Durban Poison Review

This is good info. I wanted to know about this too. I wanted to grow it indoors but it sounds like it's an outdoor tree. I might try it indoors sometime anyway because I like that type of high :)

I really liked it; it has been a long time though. What I can remember was I didn't think anything was happening and then i got kicked in the junk. I am putting some out this summer.
.. that is the most accurate and best description ever. right in the junk. and it always throws that kick right after you say " I dont feel nothing, maybe i should have a lil more" then POW.

This may be two years too late...but here's the scoop for future queries. Smells great, smooth inhale, creeps up, nice comfortable buzz, if you want to sit and veg you can, if you need to operate in "public" and have your wits about you, you can do that too. Very clean and comfortable...highly recomended by a very casual smoker who has had paranoia issues in the past...no paranoia here!

Durban Poison was considered to be good enough to be used in a song by Humble Pie, "30 Days In The Hole," so that alone should let some know if you purchase quality genetics of Durban Poison you will likely enjoy it.

Newcastle Brown, I’m telling you, it can sure smack you down
Take a greasy whore and a rolling dance floor
It’s got your head spinnin’ round
If you live on the road, well there’s a new highway code
You take the urban noise and some Durban Poison
It’s gonna lessen your load

I've smoked Durban Poison. I love it. Its very tasty, and has a heady sativa-like high, with a little bit of mind-fog. Its not my favorite strain, but i really do enjoy it. If you want to grow it, go for it. I've never grown it, but i love the smoke.

Durban Poison is one of my favorite strains. I haven't seen it around here for a while unfortunately. If I lived in Durban and this was all I could smoke, I wouldn't complain too much.

I got a bit of DP about 2 weeks cured and I gotta say, the DP makes me slightly cross-eyed for about 15 minutes after 2-3 hits. Then it mellows out into a trippy, heady high with a slight bobble-head feeling. My opinion is that it's an "up" high. 3 weeks of worm cast and molasses at the end (weeks 9-12) really brought out a nice flavor too. Intense sativa high for sure...

I'm smokin' gravity hits of what I was told was durban poison by my guy.
The taste is really nice, light and a little sour-ish.
The smell is very delicious, it reminds me of really good pine mixed with really really strong weed.
The smoke goes down very smooth and leaves a nice lingering aftertaste coating the inside of your mouth.
It makes my nose tingle. bongsmilie The buzz hits you quickly, but don't be fooled, that is just the jab before it creeps up for a
great social 'soaring' high!
I paid 30% more than I typically do for a 1/4 of this strain because it was promoted as 'really good' and 'special'.
I would and will gladly pay a premium again for it! 10/10 I am no professional but I've smoked my share of good dope over the last 9 years.
Cheers! :D

Anyone? Seems like a popular strain, yet I don't see many people growing it.

Since this is 100% Sativa, should I jump straight into a 5 gallon pot?

It's best to transplant several times.. It allows the soil to cycle through fresh waterings faster and helps with mold, stem-rot, and basically any other issue that results from water-logging for too long at a time.. As for special tips for DP, it's apparently a pretty hardy strain, so it shouldn't be tough.. Just remember that sativas like to get lanky, and can grow quite a bit in late life, and it's really not a good thing to prune them harshly during 12/12, or even a couple of weeks before the flip, so be prepared to manage height from the start whether it be by bending or early flowering if space is a factor..
And remember your base in 5Gal pails will be ~1.5' from the ground, a hook/light will consume atleast 1', and you'll need atleast 1' between the bulb and tops depending on wattage, so atleast 3.5' of your vertical space will be taken up by equipment..
Lastly, drill waay more/bigger drainage into those pails than you'd think is necessary, and if spill-over needs to be contained then get a big-ass water-catcher because when you water you're going to want to use alot of volume to wash out the root-system of used nutes etc.. Use a good potting soil that doesn't compact, don't pour your water like you're using a fire-hose, monitor/manage your pH well with proper pH Up/Down, don't over feed like 90% of new growers.. Plants are much better at managing nute deficiencies for a few days than they are toxicity, so learn the sugns of problems that are posted, and before you even react to those, consider the possibility that the symptoms are actually lock-out caused by pH issues..
In general if you decide you have a problem that needs to be addressed, it's probably best to flush well, and start with as clean a slate as possible..
Most of this is generic growing advice as good for any ther strain too.. Just read read read.. Focus on the basics that the old schoolers swear by because it's all you need.. Once you nail that then you can decide if you want to indulge in the new-school expensive gimmicky stuff..
