DO NOT USE BLOOD AND BONE MEAL GUERILLA GROWING!

Animals will dig up your plants for this shit. Also scatter moth balls and irish spring soap around the patch to keep animals away. They hate man made scents. In 09 both m patches were next to where deer stayed, not a single problem the whole season.
Damn you just put a screaching halt to my super soil recipe. Ive been saving money for it and everything. Are there any organic ways to feed straight peat moss.

PS: peat moss is 9 dollars here for 3.2 cu ft, whats a bale?

Lol same thing here I just measured out all my super soil amendments and am going to mix it tomorow. My plan was to use it in 7 gallon grow bags in guerilla growing. I am now wondering what shall I do.

If you were to keep up with supplementing irish spring soap bars hung around trees etc. would that be enough of a deterrent? If not are there other ones that can be used as well so that bone and blood meal can be used?

I had the exact same plan

I heard putting an inch of sand on top of your soil can be a deterent from the blood/bone meal.

Hmm thats not a bad idea, it would drain really well and would also prevent any weeds from growing. I'm not too worried about it because the blood and bone meal only attract carnivores. Up in the northeast woods we mostly just got deer and rabbits. The only animal I could think of would be a coyote.

IMHO, I would use 60% Vermiculite, 30% worm castings, 10% Alfalfa meal. You want to encourage as much organic activity as possible. Perlite is good for drainage, but coarse Vermiculite will boost organics. ALSO! Forest soil is FUNGUS DOMINANT! You want a BACTERIA DOMINANT soil, so I suggest a quick spritz of fungicide on the walls of your holes. Don't worry, your soil mix (Don't buy pre-made soils, waste of money) will be teaming with life. These suggestions are from MY experience in the NW area of some crazy capitalistic country...

PS- Smart Pots are AWESOME! They fold down to practically nothing, they air prune, and they are washable and re-useable!

Also, +Rep!:hump:

For a dry time release organic fertilizer nothing beats(in my book) Fox Farms Marine Cuisine. I use 2 full handfulls per hole. I mix it in with the pro-mix. I aslo used it last season threw all the rain.

A bale is this. Pro-mix BX 3.8 compressed

This IS disgusting, but MAN, does it work!

USED TAMPONS/PADS!

I know I'm going to get hell for this one, and, NO, this is NOT a prank!

Human menstrual blood is unique and can be smelled by animals for miles. It also indicates that there is at least 1 human in the area present.

We swept the forest floor and monitered tracks. 1/4 mile in every direction the tracks turned away!

NASTY, but it's tried and true!

Soap won't work...

Soap does work, TRIED AND TRUE, and I'd bet my balls on it. Moth balls also. Animals hate man made smells. Used tampons is disgusting but whatever floats your boat.

Irish spring regular soap and moth balls around the patch will deter everything I've encountered. Bear,Moose, Deer, coyotes, beavers and rodents. Just about everything besides bugs, now those are a whole different ball game.

Word up man, I still just cant decide, but for the price that might be the best option. You said you used Fox Farm liquid too though didnt you?

Not only do I use Irish Spring and Moth balls, but so does the Brown Dirt Warrior. Everyone here can check this out on youtube.
OK...

Human hair is more effective than soap.

Depending on where this "Forest" is, the local deer might have encountered humans enough to not scare from human scent alone...

Only human scents that would normally dissipate quickly will alert a deer.

Soaps and perfumes can last weeks after people have left, but menstrual blood, skin and hair do not.

Our personal experiences differ for whatever reason...

Also, chicken fencing laid down on the floor will deter deer. (They don't like the feeling)

Figured this out after deer grazed my homies back yard. He had a roll of chicken wire the kids had un-rolled and left out. With night vision he watched 3 deer step onto the fencing, (1 jumped) and run off it, then go around. Hilarious!

If you use pots, try and make sure there not black, they tend to get hot, and are quite visible. Pots also dry out pretty fast. Like other people have written, holes in the ground (don't kid yourself it is hard work digging them), holes are also reusable. I just bought camo grow bags, but made the mistake of getting 10 gallon size, should have opted for 30 gallons, penny wise dollar foolish, 30 gallon size were pricey. That is another good selling point of growing in the ground, in the end its cheaper, and if you grow organic its not so bad on the environment. Good Luck.

Not really acurate but hey I only have years of guerilla growing under my belt and have consistant results every year.

so in order to grow in ground you can't just dig a hole and plant the root...you actally have to add the right soil to the hole with add-ins???

If you have "years" of experience, then you MUST know that different wilderness areas have different wild animals that react to deterrents differently.

But what do I know, it's probably the same around the world....BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Enough, though. This thread was started about making custom organic soils, and has turned into Happy Frog and plastic bags so yea......bongsmilie
