Dogs NEED to be part of the pack. As long as they recognize you as the Alpha... you can't lose.
I don't simply look at them sternly. I use body language as well, but the most effective means is disappointment, and spurning of bodily contact. Meaning I turn my back to them...and they know it. If one dog misbehaves...which is very rare now, I pay attention to the other dogs and keep my back to the misbehaved dog...after I give them "the look"... but it is just as important to not make eye contact after that. Tell them through ur body, and then refuse to recognize them. They will instantly make the connection, because the pack mind is hard wired.
if they don't care....then they don't recognize you as the leader.
