My (sativa) plants just started to get there first true leaves today and are already 3 inches tall and the stems look a little weak, I have a 400w hps about 2 feet from the tops of the plants. So is there any way that they could be strecting or are they just meant to be like this because of the strain.Rollitup and smoke onnn

Well they are stretchin cause you are using an HPS which is the wrong spectrum for vegging, would be better to put a cfl over em at this stage (6500k)

the cool tube is good for temp control, I use one and it works nice. reflector aint the best but its not bad

how much did the cool tube take your temp down to,im at 31degrees witch is too high,im wanting to be in the low 20"s..ye the reflector isnt that good on them to be fair

ok so far i am really good at wasting lots of money killing plants..ph, nute burn, temps, etc..this time i am trying to make it as easiest on me as possible. this is my plan. i want to grow in coco, hand water, and just use flora nova grow for veg, the flora nova bloom for flower...has anybody had sucess with this setup, and what things should i look out for and any recommended watering/feeding schedules are helpful..i'm ready to pull my hair out at this point as i can't afford to keep killing things...also i am using a 4.5' x 4.5' tent with a 600w mh conversion grow, and 600 hps bloom...please help!!!

never used coco, but lots of folks do and have good grows with it, one of my friends loves it

I know nothing about flora nova, I do not use anything but regular nutes from the nursery

What I can tell ya is that it is better to give the plant what it wants and needs when it wants it, following schedules can be a problem, best to learn to read the plants

As for killing them, this is common with new growers, you need to relax and just let the plant do it's thing, too much love and attention can be a bad thing, less is more when growing MJ

also over watering is the #1 mistake with new growers

your lights are good as is the tent you just need to let one grow without fretting over it, there is no secret formula

ye i can get a cool shade off a mate,ive got a 1.2m square by 2m high,with 600watt hps/2 oscalating fans one is 12" and other is 16"/got a 4" extractor fan at top of tent with 4" carbon filter takin air out of tent.still my temp is 31degrees lol,ill have to try the cool shade out

Ya can use a HPS conversion bulb to run a MH of ya ballast, or ya can get duel spectum HPS with added blue spectrum. If ya want em at 2 foot ya going to have to switch to 12/12 when they about 10" if they an idica, smaller if they pure slativa as they shoot up 2-3 times in flower

It is imposable to guess how much ya will get, to many varaitions. all I can say is top growers can get 1g per 1w of light

Well, as it appears an old OG (riddleme) has returned to be the resident guru for us noobs, I have a question or 2.

I have some gals in 6th week of bloom (hydro), top drip feed w/ mix of 60% hydroton, 40" coco.

Change the res. out religiously every week w/ fresh technaflora (recipe 4 success kit) nutes, distilled h20, and ensure it's properly pH'd . However, after the third day after res. switch, the pH starts a drift down to 5.5, and is @ 5.2 by the 4th day. I'm toppin off w/ straight distilled, but that still only gets to 5.5. I then hit w/ some UP. But I'm havin to do this daily for bout 50% of the week. I have to think that all that UP is less than ideal.

Any thoughts???

I took a guess, and tried flushin all pots w/ about a half gallon of straight rainwater in hopes of maybe flushin up some salt build ups or somethin, before I swtiched res. out last night w/ fresh nutes. Let that dry for 3-4 hours, and then commenced reg. drip schedule. Looks good today, but expectin it to slip down in a day or 2.

Lastly, I again I am in 6th week of bloom. I've got 3 diff strains goin. And 2 of the strains pretty much ALL have yellow leaves. I've only done autos before, and everyone said that yellow is gonna happen after 5th week of bloom, just not sure with these reg. photo period gals. One strain is still a nice lush dark green. Nute def, or something else?? Or all good and part of natural life?
(FYI, the ones that are still nice & lush are ak's, the yellow foliage is some north. lights & bub. gum. Blooms are sicky though, not to worried bout that aspect. Just wanna make sure I am gettin 'em evthing i can.

IMO, LED's are still not advanced enough to take over, but in the near future could very well be where things go as the technology advances. That being said there are folks using them so you could go looking for grows and check out what kind of results are being had?

ye im guna have a look in to them to be honest as it will solve my heat problems for me,the leds are more expensive but i think it will be worth it if i can get a good grow off them..forgot to ask you!do i need to up the dosage of nutes when i go in to flower?im currently giving them half strenth.thanks

I don't up the nutes when switching to flower, stay with veg nutes the first 2 weeks and then switch to bloom nutes, supplementing veg as needed for healthy vigor

im using canna coco nutrients a+b the a is veg an b is flower but it says to mix them both together wenever you use them lol,?

hey, i have 7 potential mothers growing from seed, there at about 5"-8" " under a 400 MH, I want to weed out the males asap... should i throw them under the 12/12 HPS till they show sex and then move the females back to 18/6 under the MH?? Is the way to do it or should i just be patient and wait till they show sex-i don't want to stress em out but wasting nutes on males sucks too.

Completely up to you, you can go either way, depends on how long you want to wait?

i need some help. my girls are 2.5 weeks into flowering. my grow box is 2x2x4 foot. there just now getting long white hairs and buds growing but they keep getting taller! there about three feet now and everytime i move the lights up two inches they grow back to the lights in 2 days!! i only have a foot left to work with. what should of can i do? thanks for the help.
