We have no use for nuclear weapons. We are the largest superpower on the planet, yet we need thousands of nukes?

Why does it bother you if someone wants to own a big gun? I agree that it's fuckin useless, in most circumstances.

Completely theoretical situation, lets say the russians invade america? (Think, red dawn)

The dude who you are saying has no right to it is all of a sudden gonna be the guy watching your ass.

Don't say it could never happen. That's what the Romans thought.

I think we DO need Nukes. Owning nukes on the global scale is like me owning a gun on a neighborhood scale. I don't walk around my street pointing them at everyone, but I'm fairly certain my neighboors have seen me walk in and outa my house with rifle cases. It's a deterant. Rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Now, the reason the public "wont ever need it", is because the moment that scenario you just spit off happens, that man (or woman) that wants to fight is no longer John Q. Plublic. He (or she) would probably be immediately DRAFTED to National Guard, Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, whatever. And then he'll be given something bigger than a .50 cal.

But... don't say that'll be me. I've served my county, and I own multiple weapons (including a .50 cal). And I know how to use all of them. I'm not waiting around for someone else to save my ass. I got this.

i have sad news about whats on the horizon, you can forget about america being a superpower... those days will be long gone and we've already sealed our fate. the only reason we were a superpower was because of our wealth and an itchy trigger finger, we all will have no money soon after peak oil destroys the dollar.

I wouldn't be interested in fighting for my country. I'd be right at home fighting for my family.

Besides, the second ammendment was written to protect the people. Even against it's own government if neccesary.

why does 2/3 of the world PROHIBIT nuclear weapons programs within their countries? what about the treaty of tlatelolco that bans nuclear weapons in all of south america (22-26 countries i believe) yet america is building 7 new bases in columbia for the capability to perform airstrikes on south american targets. too bad key future oil producers like venezuela are getting all their oil reserves bought up by china. what do you think china (and the world) will do if we fuck with the last bit of recoverable oil on the planet? times are changin, its time to be real about this.

That's your choice. I've taught my family to defend themselves. I will not be around forever.
And the second amendment is still intact. You can own weapons legally. Lots of them.

And I don't think that's beyond our country's will. China will be a larger superpower than us if they continue to trend the way they are now. Taking their oil from them in Venezuela is something we WOULD do if we went to war with them. Which could happen if war broke out with North Korea, and China backed them. Well, there's multiple reasons we would go to war with China. But it's a bad move on their part for so much of THEIR oil to be in OUR back yard.

the 4th ammendment was too but people didnt bitch when that went away. we see all these fucking raids, injustice, brutality, searches, abuses of power... and for what? for a friend to catch it on a camera phone and put it on youtube, just to get 100k views and then be forgotten again?

but now you wanna fight for guns, talkin bout "your rights".... what a noble cause. FUCK THAT

uh dude, dont you think america will manufacture a reason for us to steal their oil? wouldnt you (if you thought you lived above the law)? the chineese will be doing better than you think, you see that whole "cash for clunkers" thing really helped our china, since they developed it. we sent all those cars over as scrap metal to make a dent (pun intended) in the debt we've accrued from them, you better believe that combined with them buying the last oil reserves is pretty much check mate im sorry to say.

what happens when the u.s. has to pay back its debt by any means necessary and begins phasing into debtors prisons and work camps to bring in money to to start over again? legal slavery. our entire economy is built off debt and the derivatives from lending. does anyone know what derivatives are? we have 700 billion dollars in our economy THAT DOESNT ACTUALLY EXIST. we are more fucked then you know.
