yea man deff lovin the 500 ppm. and yea i was thinking the same thing, i was surprised at how much side branching has already happened. no need for lst this round im guessing. ive already switched to flower and i think the daylight well help to keep her shorter than with the stretch of a soft white bulb. or at least thats what the guy at the local grow shop told me lol. have you ever used stuff called bushmaster? supposed to stop vertical growth and make it bush out. ive thought bout it like if i was to grow some non autos in there. just a thought though.

hey everyone,

lil update its day 18. i just checked the ph and res levels. i will be out of town until monday evening. plants looking super healthy. i moved it down a tad, actually just took out a cd fromt he stack. Is there anything else i should do before i leave town? i have placed the heat shield in and a large book on top to block the light exiting. i was thinking of making a diy filter from pvc. just make a short tube with a fater area that will hold carbon and drill holes and line with panty hose to keep the carbon in. thoughts on that? anyways i attached a couple pics of some buds i got yesterday. left to right unknown organic, shoreline, and 2 pics of durban poison.

I've read about bushmaster but never seen any grows. I assume it interferes with auxin production so presumably it halts sidebranch growth as well. Personally I would consider Uncle Ben's topping technique in your grow. A single cola will grow 4x faster than 4 level colas. It worked a treat when I tried it and is a cool way of controlling growth.
You should be ok for a few days, just make sure nothing can hit the light.

Light Cycle: 12/12
Lights: 1 125w cfl
Medium: Rockwool & hydroton
Ferts: Flora Nova grow, 500ppm.
Strain: Bagseed and tarragon, type of seasoning.


What up everyone,

Alright so today is day 22 of her life and day 8 of flowering. Tons of growth over the weekend. Still no signs of sex. I did trim 2 large fan leaves though. She(hopeful) has put on 3 new sets of nodes and tons of sidebranch growth. I am starting to hint a smell of fresh pot plant growing but just the plant smell, not the bud smell. So here are some pics. Let me know what yall think.

QUESTION: ARE THE ROOTS TO DARK BROWN? SHOULD THEY BE WHITER?


comments/suggestions feel free, i hope to learn as much this grow as i did last time. and can you believe they now make diapers that are blue jean design? hahaha laughed so hard at this, sure the pot had alot to do with it. ha

Sick set-up!!! any tips for a beginner? i basicly want the same kind of set up but i dont kno how to go about getting started........STAY HIGH

It always amazes me how fast they grow in hydro. The same size plant in soil would be 5-6 weeks old.

Looks like you've got some algae/bad shit going on in the res. What are the water temps? I'd get some 35% h202 in there right away. Any sort of crap growing on the roots is going to hold the plant back.
 
what is h202? lights come on at 8 pm i was thinking bout a res change. where should i put the plant and roots while this happens? not sure of water temps, will check all that once i do the res change.

one more question

when i change the res out, i know i will ph the water but should i add nutes to lets say like 500ppm or leave it with more water than nutes?
 
Hydrogen peroxide at 2-3ml per gal. It sterilizes the water and kills all the nasty shit. You can also use plain bleach but I'm not sure how much.

For my tote res, I stick the lid over the top of a 5 gal bucket and let the roots dangle. Not sure what you're asking with your last question...
 
Lookin good man. I'll be downsizing my grow to a PC later this year and am taking copious notes. Is your heat shield actual glass or plexiglass? Thx
 
Looks good so far!

Roots can be a little brown...we use Foxfarm and find that the bat guanno really stains the roots. As far as ppm goes... rule of thumb is less is better. We usually ph our water to like 4 or 4.5 then add all our goodies to the mix then retest for PH. Usually we are 5.5 to 5.8 by the time we put em back in and we run a ppm around 600 but our water is almost 300 by itself!! during Veg though we ran a ppm of around 1500.

If you can keep the res temp around 19 degrees C you will keep the plants happy and the water will be more difficult to get root rot.

word thanks for the info dude. im not sure what my res temps are at. i will check that tonight

i did a full ras change lastnight, got rid of a bunch of gross stuff. currently running 300 ppm of grow nutes.
