2nd grow, Nirvana Bubblelicious closet scrog

Everything is going well.
Screen keeps filling SLOWLY, but filling... You guys think I should flip to flowering at this point? I don't want to wait too long.

The chadwick lady under the HPS in my roomates closet is impressing the hell out of me for how quick and shisty it was grown. Flowering nicely, lots of buds for a tall twig lol

My roomates closet is quite impressive now that I've thrown my lil chadwick in the back. Turns out he got lucky, the Deathstar on the left is a girl :)

I also fab'd up a ghetto light fixture for 12 26w CFL's that will fit nicely in my newly aquired and hollowed dresser. Need a bit more equipment to get it finished. I wanna put a fan in there and line it up with mylar. also need a few Y splitters so I can put the final 4 CFL's in the fixture.

Perpetual:
The plan is to veg 4 fem'd at a time in the dresser than split them up between my roomates and my closet for flowering with HPS lighting. I experimented in my first grow and used the Big Hawaiian Punch bottles as grow pots, it worked nicely. I think 4 of those should do the trick for fitment/adequate soil for root expansion. They are tall but not wide, allowing for 4 plants in the dresser. Having a clear pot is cool too, you can watch the roots. First couple of plants in there will be Deathstar clone, Bubblelicious clone, Bubblelicious from seed, and Cole train from seed. That is assuming I can figure out cloning and get them to survive. Also hoping that the Cole train freebie seed pops...

That's a nice little fixture you rigged up. I'm always impressed with the stuff people come up with on here.

Why thank you Sonar, I need to make two more that aren't quite as wide and I'm probably gonna use them hung on either side of the 2' flouro tubes.

I haven't decided yet though, i'm not quite sold on the effectiveness of the 2' flouro tubes. I may just axe that idea all together and stick with CFL's.
Any thoughts on that subject?

Thanks for the input Dense, I'll probably start swapping most of the bright white CFL's for the warm flowering spectrum soon. I don't really want to jump into flowering too quick, kinda need some time to get some $$$ together for an HPS... Maybe wait it out till the end of the month or somethin.

Well, the fluoros worked for me for what I was doing. I just needed to veg for a couple weeks before I took them outside. Problem is after about 2-3 weeks, they didn't have enough light penetration to carry me much longer and they grew a little slow. Then again, I was only using two 18" 15w T8's. They work OK for seedlings, you just gotta keep them really close. I'm actually experimenting now with 6500K CFL to see if I can get them to veg faster than with the T8's.

Well thats the thing, with a scrog it makes the flouro tubes effective. You keep an even canopy and keep it close to the screen. But would I be better off just using more 26w cfls? You can tell just by eye that they have alot more intensity, and get hotter...

So i'm stuck between making two skinny boards like the one in the dresser with 6 CFL's on each & placing them to the left and right of the flouro tubes V.S. Make another large board and just mount 12-18 CFL's and hover it over the screen.

Dense: I sure hope you are right lol. This Scrog Vegg business has taken FOREVER, kinda makes me wish I had done a straight up FIM grow instead. I'll wait for the dry yield #'s before making a legitamit statement like that though. I have a case of envy for my roomates plants but I have the feeling that he's only going to win the battle of grow speed, i'm gonna take home the yield trophy!

Scrog Goal = 8 OZ
Chadwick "Twig" Goal = 1/2 - 1 OZ

I think you'll be ok. I've been totally impressed with my first scrog I've got going here. Just 3 weeks into flowering myself. Way more Med/lrg colas than normal.

Yeah I have faith, just not as much patience lol. After waking up today and peeking into the closet I think it's time to flower anyway. They are growing pretty fast now. It's pretty much just the outer perimeter of squares that need to be filled at this point.

Made a new fixture for my closet scrog. Seems much more efficient than my previous setup. I don't have all the hardware I need (going to lowes today) to finish it up quite yet, but there will be a total of 16 26w CFL's untill I can get ahold of an HPS.

In a bit of a hurry to go to work so this will be short and sweet. Enjoy the pics and comment :)

Well I finally figured out how to use my roomates flashy olympus digi cam. So now I finally have some good up close pictures. Before neither one of us could figure out what we had to do or change to make it take up close shots. Finally found the little feature and it's working great.

Roomates closet is just a beautiful sight lol Bud everywhere...His bubblelicious is beasting right now under that 250 HPS and my little twigman addition from the chadwick batch is doing marvelous.

The screen is filling up quite nicely now. I will confidently say that this nex 16 CFL fixture I rigged up is the best piece of ghetto sheek to date for me. In total, 416w of CFL flowa' powa' lol. The plants have loved the extra light and the lights can be hung right overtop of the screen top :) Having to do alot of branch bending in there :mrgreen:

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. I believe I am heading to my local Hydro shop to get a nice 4" exhaust fan & some mylar tommorow.

Probably also going to be looking into a little cloner set up if they have any at a good price. If not, i'll just make my own and buy the little root cubes that i'll be needing.

There are deffinately some nice looking branches down low on my bubblelicious plants that would make beautiful clones. I'm gonna try to snag a clone off of the "deathstar" from my roomate as well. That stuff was killer when we got the bag the seed came out of, would love to preserve those genetics.

Just hope I can figure cloning out and the little guys live through the root growing process. I have some clonex gel and a steril scalpal the cashier sold me cheap last time I was at the store so i'll use that to do a few.

A cloner (assuming you mean aeroponics here?) is going to cost some $$ if you buy it at a store. Anywhere from $60 to several hundred. I bought my first cloner (DaisyCloner 8 site) for $70. It worked well, but was super small. Then I stumbled across this thread. I built one and it looks pretty sweet. Haven't actually had a chance to run a round of clones through it yet, but it is identical in concept to the one I purchased initially so I see no reason why it won't work. Much cheaper also.

I agree similar to the 1 I built. you can expand on it by using a y-splitter for the cfl as u can see on the end of mineveg (5).jpg
looking good so far, hmmmmm, whats this 10 bubblicious seeds I'm looking at. chad wick so inspired me i have to keep the family going. fyi the plant in the pics have all been harvested 16.5 ounces dryed and cured. all grown under cfl's. my next grow will be vegged under cfls but flowered under 1000w hps with a cool tube. cudos on the lights

We have gone Mylar mad! Well I made it to the hydro store the other day as expected, and spent a ton of $$$ as expected...

BUT all the grow rooms have gotten Mylar, $50, and I sprung for a 6" 175 CFM duct booster, $65, to act as my exhaust fan. I originally wanted a 4" because that was the size of the hole in my closet already but the 4"'s they had were only rated for 70 CFM... So I opted for the 6" which also ment I needed a ducting reducer that went from 6" to 4", $12, so I could attatch it to my 4" ducting.

Everything is going GREAT though! With over 400w of cfl's in my closet temps are staying around 90 at screen level but the rest of the closet feels cooler. Only directly under the CFL's gets toasty.

Adding Mylar to my cabinet walls made a huge difference, I think you'll be happy! The plants all used to lean in towards the light a LOT. Now they will just adjust their leaves a bit, but are upright for the most part. I've got a 400watt HPS.

Just a minor update. Had to raise the lights today in my closet so I could train the hard to reach places in the back under the screen. Everything is filling in nicely though. Alot of the leaves under the screen are saving me the trouble and falling off.
