If the November bill gets passed, what does that mean for us growers?

I'll believe that when I see it actually happen. Since 215 was voted in 1996, there's been talk about just this being done, but the problem is finding those that are willing to do it. Everybody wants a piece of the pie. Which is fine, but I can't stand the "promise makers" that don't make good on their promises. We don't even get help in obtaining the crappy stuff. When your total monthly income is $845 strictly due to disability, I'd say that merits help, wouldn't you?
ive heard about a number of compassion programs, one that springs to mind is Harborsides programs like the low income freebies (show up with a paystub or disability check and they put you up for a random 8th a week) they also do a program where if you go in and write letters to your local representatives or sit and try to call them for an hour they hook you up as well (giving away medicine as an incentive to get people politically active? wow)

theres stuff out there, we just need people spreading the word and working to affect public change, i actually have to bribe friends with edibles to accompany me to meetings and committee hearings. :)

I agree on everything except i think there will be a huge growth in the amount of people that grow marijuana. If it's legal people are going to grow it just because they can, and see what they can do. If it becomes legal in november The quality in the pot is going to down dramatically, because their will be so many new growers. You will still have to go to a store to get the quality we are used to now. As people gain experience growing after about 5-10 years the quality will go back up and start seeing 40-50% thc content eventually. Also just my two cents, the bill is going to pass in november, but it going to take a few years for the people to have some control. The first couple years that it is legal the government is going to be in charge and limit us to 5x5 ft grow area and posses one ounce. The limits that they are talking about are a joke, 5x5 grow area is like two good outdoor plants, and if you can only posses an ounce(like a weeks worth maybe) you will have to be going to the store and buy more which who makes all the money the government. Time will change everything. Peace out:weed::weed:bongsmilie
nooo dude that means the weed will be better? people can legally test new ways and companies with money can aford new tests to make weed cleaner and better and cheaper. I hope to god though that they keep the tar and shit out of the company made weed. But the point is that if companies make cleaner better safer and cheaper weed some of the techniques will be passed down to the homegrowers. Eventually homegrowing will be phased out just like smoking and drinking the comanes will take control

even in tobacco and drinking today there is still the connoisseur, compare someone who drinks wine out of a box to the person paying 600 for a bottle of scotch and see what side of the fence you want to stand on :)

Let stop being naïve people. I know stoners are positive and optimistic people but let be real. Its already legal! Why are we even having a debate about whether or not to vote our rights away? I may be wrong but medical mj patients can possess 8 oz right? The law they r tryin to pass only allows a person to possess 1 oz. This one does not take a math wiz to figure out. Let's work it out together if you don't understand yet. If its legal now to own 5 candy bars but there is a law on the ballots that says you can now own only 2 candy bars now......u see where I'm goin with this. Your are not smarter then a fifth grader!

its not legal already, its still a federally controlled substance due to a bunk propaganda war from almost one hundred years back, sure prop 215 was a good start, and enabled truly sick people access to a medicine they would have been otherwise denied, but now all over the state there are jack-holes abusing a medical program so they can get high, this would be a chance to institute a state law, legalizing the substance for everyone, and showing that its not as harmful as its always been toted.
the legalization coming in november will not change or lower medical limits, as has always been stated. good job coming in on a high horse with your Amazing math skills stuart.
you will still be able to carry what your doctor recommends, thanks for the antiquated reference though.

Who is it to judge what type pains justify the use of marijuana? Maybe these jack hole aren't abusing the law just exercising their right to self medicate, and taking the necessary steps to do so and LEGALLY. When someone jumps through all the hoops and pays the necessary fees it shows some sense of responsiblity and they appreciate the priviliges more. If it were to become legal for recreational use for all, then people would abuse it. People that don't need to be getting stoned like teenagers will be able to access it easier which will cause the government to make stricter laws regulating it. Leave politics out of medicine. If you want to use marijuana consult with your doctor. Let him tell you if its right for your or not and how much you should consume, not the governer, cause he doesn't know and politician are looking out for their best interest $$$$$$ not yours. sorry to be the one to break it to you. we should need a doctors recommendation to buy alcohol. it would make the roads a little bit safer, and people healthier, but thats just the optimist in me.

if the law passes people 21 and over will be allowed up to one oz on them at any time, aloows for up to 12 mature plants to be grown (no license required) and to of course use inside a home, or club. the bill would really only affect street dealers and cartels coming up from mexico. as for prices, well happily they would go down by maybe 5 or 10 dollars, mainly due to increased access to the plant...vote yes people its going to help everyone out which is what we all need...and think about it if california passes the law it would show the rest of the country it can be done in a proper way...we'd be helping all the states realize its acceptable.

you pretty much all have valid points. the price probably will go down, it will be easier to get it, and as far as the medical marijuana system goes, you cant deny that it is being abused. there are alot of people that get referances and dont need them. but whats wrong with that? if people want to smoke let them smoke. humans have been using marijuana for 10,000 years why shouldnt we able to now? and as far as health risks go, it has been proven marijuanna is not as dangerous as alchahol or ciggaretes. i can understand wanting to vote no because of the possible negative effects but theres no way of know what those will be untill the law goes into effect. i guess well just hav to wait and see

chewy you leave me speechless, you really think that because people pay to get a doctors rec (which is really so very hard to get in cali) that the system isnt being abused?

and before i leave this thread i was just wondering chew, have you ever or are you now working for dennis peron? if you are, then next time you see him tell him brock sampson says " rubber baby buggy bumpers". he'll know who its from.

see you all in the hort forums

prop 215 is a state law. passing this will not change the federal law that you yourself reference. it is up to the DR to decide if you are qualified or not. blame the DR's if you want to blame someone.

".... or any other illness for which marijuana provides relief." ask dennis why this was written into the prop. ;)

i don't know dennis and you don't have to know someone to share the same views Brock. We'll never see eye to eye on this. You believe that marijuana should be regulate like alcohol and i believe the alcohol should be regulated the way marijuana is now. of the 2 which is being abused more by California residents alcohol or marijuana?

The biggest legal abuse is that it's illegal in the first place. All the reasons it was made illegal were lies so you can't blame people for finding a loopholes in the system.

Yep. + the same can be said for any medication that requires a doctors visit to acquire.

Cannabis was everywhere before prop215. 215 just helps people not go to jail behind some bullshit.

I think Marijuana should be fully legal and not taxed. There's no tax reason for it. Alcohol & Tobacco can kill people. Whether it be impaired driving creating accidents or lung cancer. Marijuana creates no condition to impair a human being creating a taxable impact. We stoners, growers, dispensaries dont create any problems. Toys for children kill more than marijuana every year. That's because marijuana kills nobody and beats nobodys wife. Why are we all wanting to make something that's not harmful legal with taxation? What's the tax FOR?

Why should anyone go to jail for using cannabis?

People that don't need to be getting stoned like teenagers will be able to access it easier which will cause the government to make stricter laws regulating it.
Every highschool kid in America already has access to cannabis.

There is a very good reason to tax it. More people will vote for legalization if it involves taxing it. I'd rather pay a tax than worry about getting a ticket or going to jail.

What you type sounds like you want it to be taxed so you more people will make it a non criminal act to smoke marijuana. It shouldnt be a criminal act to begin with, and no harm done to anyone through the entire process. There's nothing "sinful" to tax on it like Alcohol, Cigarettes, etc.... What is the tax money FOR? The tax on cigarettes goes to stop people from smoking by way of ads and public campaigns. What's the weed tax for? It doesnt create a problem to tax. Got it? :)

In theory, you're right. In reality people who don't care about legalization one way or the other need to be given an incentive to vote for legalization. It shouldn't be a criminal act to being with and it shouldn't be taxed, but if you want to end prohibition the reality is the only way to get enough public support is to tax it. Best of two evils.

There's nothing "sinful" to tax on it like Alcohol, Cigarettes, etc.... What is the tax money FOR?
Depends what you mean by "for". If you mean what's is the purpose, then the answer is an incentive to get people to vote in favor of prohibition. If you mean where does the money go, then I believe the answer is into the state general fund.

The tax on cigarettes goes to stop people from smoking by way of ads and public campaigns. What's the weed tax for? It doesnt create a problem to tax. Got it? :)
Yeah, I got it. Everything you said is 100% correct in a fantasy world where whatever is good and right is the law of the land. In the real world it doesn't work that way. If I've got to pay an unfair tax in order to insure I never go to jail unjustly, I'll take it. If you're holding out for a third option where prohibition ends without a tax then you're waiting for something that will never happen.
