CFL vs HPS

lumens are very important if you have more space. CFLs just don't have the light penetration and are more for smaller setups. spectrum is not a problem if you use MH instead of HPS during veg. the only LED lights that are good are extremely expensive because you need a lot of them. if you want huge, ultra dense, high times cover looking buds, hps is the way to go as long as the other conditions are right.
where do you get this stuff, with what scientific link could you provide verification of this?

But with expensive LED's they can be as good as HID's correct? Not going out and buying any but just wondering.

@Riddle -- Yeah that's just how it is. Well although other people don't enjoy learning I would love to read any threads you have on lighting so if you do PM me or post them up :D Always looking to learn something

Yeah CFL's suck, I grew this plant with one 65 watt cfl and a 32 watt T9 (see avatar) so 97 watts, the plant was 21 inches tall and yielded 47.2 grams dry

edit: PS I did it to prove how misunderstood lights are

Ahh thank you and yeah I subb'd to your new journal the other day. And yes that is pretty amazing what you did with 97 watts :D I use an HPS but I have a few CFL's for side lighting. How much did the t9 help? And how close do you have to keep flouros? About the same as CFL's? Thanks bongsmilie

plant can actually touch T8's, T9's and T12's T5's are too hot and CFL's should be 2 inches away

Ahh alright, and as far as electricity cost goes on them? And so after browsing around for 15 minutes I have to go get a copy of Marijuana Grower's Insiders guide haha
