Okay so I'm new here. First year growing, and I made alot of mistakes already that I have caught by reading through these forums. I have about 7 plants in the ground outside and they are getting pwned by bugs. they are seedlings and im not sure how to tell if they are male or female yet, but that is not the most worrying thing I've discovered. I've been watering them like every other night after work, and I put FF big grow, cal mag, and liquid karma in every galon (a tsp of each).

my first question is, is that too much nutes for my girls? I already found out Ive been watering way too often, so I am looking into flushing them but am not sure if I should just lay off watering altogether (to once a week if that) or if I should wait til flowering to flush. I put them all right into the ground in a very clay ridden corn field, so I dug decent 2.5x2.5x2.5 holes and filled them with the most expensive planting soil I could find at my grocery store. I wasnt aware of FF soil at the time, and Ididnt know anything about perlite or anything, so I went with straight soil. I know this was a mistake but I dont know how big of one.

Another monsterous problem ive encountered are these little bastard bugs that keep anhialating my babies. I bought this neem oil stuff but these little black bugs keep eating all my fan leaves. you will see in the pictures below that I am having some trouble. I am not sure if I stunted them or what, but they arent growing as much as I figured they would with the lineup I have. I also do not know when to start using tiger bloom and big bloom, and what proportions I should be using. Am I using too much nutes as it is? should I keep using cal mag and liquid karma when I add the tiger and big bloom?

am I doomed, will I even get a harvest? I also bought 50 clones a few weeks ago but the dickhead lied and said they were rooted when they were fresh cuttings, so I finally managed, with some effort, to root & bound them, but I'm not sure if I should just stick them in the field using the same method, or what? I know they wont yield much as it is july 14th already, but I figure I might aswell put them out and not waste the 200 bucks. Should I go about mixing better growing medium and using perlite and other stuff?

I was told garlic water or peppermint oil will get rid of the bugs, but other than that what should I do? is there some way I can bring my yield up or make my plants bigger? I know I was over watering them so I cut that shit out, but anything else? haha, sounding like a total noob, but I am one. Please help me someone. I know this isnt the outdoor forum and most of you guys just grow indoor, but my parents would snap if I started a grow op inside. the pics are below, taken today, the black things are bugs, not sure which kind, but overall, could someone please help me steer things in the right direction?

last year I harvested about a .7 and everything else died, so anything is an improvement... so long as I beat this infestation and pull through with these clones.

oh and I have about 100 other seedlings in styrophome cups still that have about 4 sets of fan leaves, but buying up soil is getting expensive and its not even very effective but the ground is like terrible clay, so IDK what to do with em. any responses are grately appreciated. thanks guys!

thanks for the reply man. Well, the guy at hi times told me the neem oil could not possibly harm my plants, and that it would clear up any and all pests... he lied. My leaves have that brownish tinge to them with holes all through them, not sure if the shit is burning them or what, but I get frustrated and soak them to no avail. anyways, anyone know how much garlic powder to put in with water? dont wanna screw up my girls with a stupid mistake.

also, corn field is my only realistic choice tbh. I cant grow indoors, but im moving out at harvest and starting my own massive grow op. til then, im stuck growing in secret outdoors, and it hasnt been easy to maintain all these clones and seedlings outside. I actually still have the clones in my window sill, but they gotta go soon. I figured corn field was a better choice than a forest as there are no ravines around here. I called buddy at hi times and he said bugs will be anywhere this year as it is so humid. he told me to come back in for something stronger but I dont really trust that guy.

also, this corn field will be standing all winter so I dont have to worry about that, but I do need a better alternative for all these clones and seedlings that need to be planted, buying all this soil is breaking the bank

Well neem oil shouldn't harm your plants if applied correctly, not under direct sunlight and on a weekly basis, and should deter most pests but it sounds like your field is infested and you will never keep them away unless you can make some sort of pesticide barrier around the plants. Good luck

you should really get some better soil. where corn grows it makes the soil shit , it leeches the hell out of it ask any farmer.

well those were my initial thoughts on growing in the field, but I figured upping the watering would suffice. *smacks head off desk*

I suppose I'll relocate the clones and the other seedlings, what soil should I be getting?? I bought the most expensive shit at my local grocery store, and have no knowledge on how to mix a growing medium.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but it sounds like you need some experience before starting your own "massive grow op". Again, this isn't to hurt your feelings, but these seem like fairly beginner issues and questions.

Look up Subcools super soil, its the shit
If you don't wanna mix that get fox farm happy frog and ocean forest, mix 50/50, and you'll have to feed after about 3-4 weeks, no feeding with super soil just water

Thal, you are indeed correct. wasnt trying to ruffle any feathers of the more experienced growers here, just looking for some help before I lose my crop. I happen to be moving in with an experienced grower, I am just adding a few 400 watt hps lights and a 200 amp converter to the party. they look to be corn flea beetles, thanks for the link. also thank you for the super soil idea.

you coulda got some kelloggs 3 cubic foot bags at home depot for like 6.50 and do like a 30 % pertalite mixture....just make sure you have pertalite for better drainage.

thats looking to be expensive for the remaining ~150 plants I have to put out lol. I do like the pertalite idea and will incorporate it into my aresenal of growing tips from here on out. thanks bro

Nicotine spray is always an option. I use it with pretty good success, especially when plants are young. Send me a private message for the recipe for nicotine spray.
