Okay so I'm new here. First year growing, and I made alot of mistakes already that I have caught by reading through these forums. I have about 7 plants in the ground outside and they are getting pwned by bugs. they are seedlings and im not sure how to tell if they are male or female yet, but that is not the most worrying thing I've discovered. I've been watering them like every other night after work, and I put FF big grow, cal mag, and liquid karma in every galon (a tsp of each).
my first question is, is that too much nutes for my girls? I already found out Ive been watering way too often, so I am looking into flushing them but am not sure if I should just lay off watering altogether (to once a week if that) or if I should wait til flowering to flush. I put them all right into the ground in a very clay ridden corn field, so I dug decent 2.5x2.5x2.5 holes and filled them with the most expensive planting soil I could find at my grocery store. I wasnt aware of FF soil at the time, and Ididnt know anything about perlite or anything, so I went with straight soil. I know this was a mistake but I dont know how big of one.
Another monsterous problem ive encountered are these little bastard bugs that keep anhialating my babies. I bought this neem oil stuff but these little black bugs keep eating all my fan leaves. you will see in the pictures below that I am having some trouble. I am not sure if I stunted them or what, but they arent growing as much as I figured they would with the lineup I have. I also do not know when to start using tiger bloom and big bloom, and what proportions I should be using. Am I using too much nutes as it is? should I keep using cal mag and liquid karma when I add the tiger and big bloom?
am I doomed, will I even get a harvest? I also bought 50 clones a few weeks ago but the dickhead lied and said they were rooted when they were fresh cuttings, so I finally managed, with some effort, to root & bound them, but I'm not sure if I should just stick them in the field using the same method, or what? I know they wont yield much as it is july 14th already, but I figure I might aswell put them out and not waste the 200 bucks. Should I go about mixing better growing medium and using perlite and other stuff?
I was told garlic water or peppermint oil will get rid of the bugs, but other than that what should I do? is there some way I can bring my yield up or make my plants bigger? I know I was over watering them so I cut that shit out, but anything else? haha, sounding like a total noob, but I am one. Please help me someone. I know this isnt the outdoor forum and most of you guys just grow indoor, but my parents would snap if I started a grow op inside. the pics are below, taken today, the black things are bugs, not sure which kind, but overall, could someone please help me steer things in the right direction?
last year I harvested about a .7 and everything else died, so anything is an improvement... so long as I beat this infestation and pull through with these clones.
oh and I have about 100 other seedlings in styrophome cups still that have about 4 sets of fan leaves, but buying up soil is getting expensive and its not even very effective but the ground is like terrible clay, so IDK what to do with em. any responses are grately appreciated. thanks guys!
