Cheap ... easy to work with and if the science is to be belived .... make for very healthy plants with massive root systems .

I got 4 as a test , I repotted into them after 3 weeks of veg from clones ...and they shot up ....Only a week later and allready showing roots comming from the bottom of the pot ( so maybe grown down 5 inches in a week ) , I can tell you fo sure that my plants loved them ... the growth since i repotted has been amazing ... you can visible see they are enjoying them , Go take a look at my journal ( link at the bottom ) to see the progress ( Will be updating later today ).

I got my clones allready potted after rooting in blocks ... but for my next crop i intend to put my blocks directly into them befor i transplant up to larger pots .

I asked around a lot and the responces was allways good .... But some people said that if i use really big ones for flower stage they might dry up a bit to fast ... Other than that they do seem to be way better than standard pots .

Has anyone used the smart pots while doing some lst or or other form of tie down training. I really want to try these pots but I don't know if they would be suitable for my type of growing. I punch holes in the edge of the pot to anchor my tie downs and I move my plants around alot. Are these going to be sturdy enough to handle it? If not does anyone know any alternatives for a similar pot that is sturdier?

Those air pots look cool and the science seems believable but they are so expensive. I use 5 gal pots so thats like 15-20 liters around right? The 20 liter pots are like 60-70 bucks. Even the smaller air pots are 30 to 40 dollars even.

i've tied a branch or two down by poking a small hole, but i don't think it would be very suitable for a lot of lst. the pot above soil level is pretty flimsy

I went with the 3 ltr Airpots to try them after reading up on them ... But i will have to pot up again to bigger pots .... im told that the bigger airpots might not be good for flower stage as they may dry up faster ( might be a good thing ... can squeeze more feed in lol ) I dunno .....I dont see any signs of them drying up more than they would so far .

So for me ... I will use them till im ready to pot up ... Clean them and use them as a first pot for clones after they take root in Coco pellets ..... Just drop em in and let them fill the 3 ltr with roots ... then pot up for flowering with a regular pot ....In time i will try the bigger airpots and see how that goes .

They come in all sizes ... But it think the 3 or the 6 ltr are ideal for early growth stages .

Well I just did a little research on the airpots. They are made of hdpe plastic(what milk jugs, laundry detergent bottles, etc, are made of). This seems like it could be suitable for some lst tie downs as long as it is thick enough. Can anyone with experience with airpots chime in? How thick and sturdy are they?

ah yes, a new future wrinkle in the MJ grow community, airpots vs smartpots. May the best marketer win. I'm going with the smart pots, 5 gallon 18.92 liters, 3 gallons is 11.35 liters. Smart pots are $6 usd for 5gallons and $5 usd for 3 gallons. I can probably get away with four 3 gall in 3x3x6.5' space. Gotta run 250W mh/hps in that space as a compromise (I don't live alone). Another piece of the winter grow comes together

Couldnt u use those walmart reusable grocery bags in place of a smart pot? Just doin some thinkin. I havnt seen a smart pot in person or felt one to know what the material is like but it seems those walmart bags r pretty close. They r about 5 gallons and only 50 cents a piece. I think i might try those and let everyone know how it went. Its gona be a lil while b4 i transplant them into that big of a container. Plus they're square and can fit in a room alot better. IDK just brainstormin.

Wow, $5.95 for a 5 gallon container is too much to ask for? I would hate to see someone's set up that doesn't even want to shell out 4-5 dollars for some quality pots. Do these people try to haggle at the Salvation Army too?

For one, smart pots are made of a cloth material. So drilling holes in a bucket isn't going to imitate that very well.

Second, I don't think that simply drilling holes in buckets will provide the same kind of air pruning that the air pots do. By all means make a bucket and buy an air pot and check them out.

I think my smart pots were less than $5 each before shipping. I already mentioned this in the thread but if they increase your yield by one gram over the life of the pot it has paid for itself. From what I can tell so far they will easily improve yield more than 1 gram.

woo woo slow your roll there buddy your gonna fuck up your papers... i was commenting on ventos post on the air-pots. i understand the difference between the smart/air pots and it was a joke. i am quite happy with the free buckets i use and have no reason to change anything right now in mid grow. if you use them and enjoy them post some pictures so we can see what pot looks like growing in them
