finally, if you absolutely need more, go get a medical license. nothing in this law infringes upon your medical rights. this bill does not eliminate prop 215 or sb420....why would cities be lining up different tax rates for medical vs recreational if what you claim is true? that is not in the bill, READ IT!

It's already legalized. This bill puts more laws on the books, increases restrictions and will result in an increase in arrests. Just for those reasons alone, anyone who votes for this is the real selfish dick. You want your personal ounce and are willing to cut and run on those who've already been incarcerated and to sacrifice more to come to get it.

i don't understand how legalizing cannabis is an insult to those who have bee incarcerated for it. isn't cali already releasing prisoners due to budget shortfalls and prison overcrowding? legalizing cannabis would be a great step towards getting a lot of others released.

just because its now legal, doesnt mean the prisoners will be released. they still committed a crime. it doesnt say anything about previous convictions

how is he going to get into your home once this bill passes? the smell of weed, leaves in your trash, ir signatures, visible paraphernelia are no longer reasonable suspicion for a search as it would be LEGAL.

Where in this bill is there anything at all about getting anyone released? All there really is, is a whole lot of opportunities to put people in jail under circumstances that under current law only result in a small fine and a ticket.

You obviously didn't read that article. A law that was intended to speed up the parole process for those incarcerated for low-priority crimes, such as non-violent drug offenders, was used by local law enforcement jurisdictions to release criminals being held in county facilities, many of which were violent offenders and/or worse. Since I live here, I remember this incident quite clearly and I also remember all the follow-up on what a massive misinterpretation of law this was. An even more relevant point is that this misinterpretation was enacted by law enforcement officials. I'm sure by November, they'll be so much better at interpreting ambiguous law. And therein lies the real point. You keep trying to point to bits and pieces of this bill and pretend that they're gems of wisdom and therein demonstrate your ignorance. So long as you continue to ignore 20 years of legal precedents and continue to ignore the full context of this bill, then I can't help but call a duck a duck.

i do have a medical card(not license)

so, if someone without a med card had more than an ounce, do u think the cop would like to hear the affirmative defense excuse? he doesnt know the exact wording of the law, just over an ounce is illegal. he will still take u in
