My 50$ inline fan built from lowe's.....

DSCI0061.jpgDSCI0063.jpgDSCI0064.jpgDSCI0062.jpgOK there are the parts. except youll need a 3 wire cord off of old power tool or something ,i used a 2 wire lamp cord and all is well ! and screws or cable ties and duct tape,
first ...youll see(sorry no other pics but ill try to get a pic of mine up and running)you can screw a reducer onto either end of fan,fan has arrow on it so no forgetting what way to exhoust !!lol sorry bad spell...
2nd.....wire your cord to fan matching the colors on wires(if not sure ask a friend or electrition !! )
3rd...cut hole or know where your exhosting to ..i cut hole in foundation and put dryer vent cover on outside...
4th ......drill holes(1/4")equaly apart on side that you determine is top,like 2"across and 4"down,at this point iam not sure that you have to hang it from BUT i made a wire hanger for 2 holes and screwed it to floor rafter,or suspend it however you can!.....but dont hang yet!
5th....cut your flex hose to length ,or in my case in half,and attach to either end of reducers then cable tie on and duct tape!as in pic you see i prefer the stronger alum,flex to the foil but your choise
NOW hang it and run to untimmed socket let er run!!mine is quieter then the 6" can fan i almost bought for 200+$!! way to much money i was thinking..and said i can build my own ,so i did ..lol...and works awesome!and you see that the 8" is same price ,and you dont have to reduce if you want more flow ,but reduce to 4" was perfect for me !

Nice job but I hate to say you will be disappointed in it service. Those move very little air once hooked to a bit of duct work. And before you know it the blade will spin off the motor. I dont think they are made for such a constant heat flow.

thanks ,the room is 4x4x6.last year for summer was getting 100 deg.f + ! now this year in the low 80's last week when it was real hot here it was like 88,so its good for me,also makes negative presure when closed up so it also takes smell out with it...

Thanks! this particular madel is made for heat duct system for extra boost,so no problem with heat,as for blade spinning off... I hope not!!..lol.but ya never know its been running for 5 months with some breaks no problem yet...

Good job man ! The hippie tyedyed duct tape is a nice compliment ! I was gonna do the same thing but i decided this was an area not to be cheap on. if you are cooling a light and running a carbon filter not enough cfms . you have to get somthing else to suppliment one or the other. I went ahead and shelled out for an 4 in inline fan . decided buy time i built that and later iwould need somthing else once it got hot from the summer . so it made since to shell out on somthing that would keep my girls happy instead of stressed out .
Good do it yourself project though bro !

hey thanks king..i agree if i had to cool lights and vent i would have to go with a real fan,but i run cfl so not to bad ..stays inthe low to mid 80's and pull's air down 15%lower humidity then with out so its for me for now..thanks again and for the insight !peace:joint:

the 6 inch fan is only like 150-200 cfm! even the 10 inch is only like 3 something...those vortex are 200 bucks but blow like 1000-1500 cfms...I doubt this would cool anything hotter than one 400 watt...mayyybe....


just saw you runnin cfl's.....gotcha

yea and wrow room is small! that thing whould suckup my plants ,the mylar and shoot it all under my house !!lmao..that whould be funny to see...the bud chipper !!!and thanks for stopping by and the input on cfms..

I bought a couple of these same fans from lowes. very weak. not even strong enough to ventilate my small closet grow. then i bought a couple of the cheapest real inline fans from htg with some fan controllers and my shitt stays the temp i want.

I wish I could find a Vortex that pulled 1500 cfm for $200... I think you might have to divide that by 10. :)
