Don't make something simple into something complicated - just eyeball about a third of the volume for perlite and go from there. The mix ratios of ingredients are not that precise anyway.

I just use something like a small pot and just add say 1 scoop of perlite for every 2 or 3 of soil and mix it as i go.

an easy way to do it is get a cup or jug or even your hands and start scooping out the soil into whatever pot your going into and after 7 jugs hand full etc put 3 perlite in you can't go wrong

Yea, just lay it all out on a tarp and mix together with a shovel if you plan on using all of the dirt right away.

Come on people, this ain't Rocket Science!

3 gallons = 12 quarts. 30% of 12 quarts = 3.6 quarts (3.5 quarts is close enough). So, for each bag allow 8.5 quarts of soil mix and 3.5 quarts of Perlite.

It may not be rocket science, but put like that and i'm lost, what is a quart :D

This is the third thread from this guy I've read about THE EXACT SAME THING. If you can't even mix soil and perlite together in a pot without repeating this question, then what will the forums look like when you get your 100 plants growing? Just go for it man!

So, you have no problem with "Gallons" - but you don't know what a quart is? Okay? A "Quart" is 32 fluid ounces, or a quarter of a gallon, or 946 millileters. It's also 2 pints, if that helps!

Simplest formula= 3 cups of any size, 1 cup of the same size, 3 cups of any size, 1 cup of the same size, repeat as needed...........77% (2/3rds) of one item and 33% (1/3%) of the other
