MH vs HPS Lighting Question During Veg

Hi All,
I have a nice little indoor grow going and my plants are almost a month old. Started the seedlings under a T5 and moved them under a 400W MH after a couple of weeks where they really took off. Then my problem..my MH bulb dies today and all I have is a 400W HPS which I am hoping I can use to continue the veg process for two weeks longer before starting the flowering cycle. The plants are about 10-11 inches tall with 6-7 growth nodes to date and I will top soon as I need to keep them short.

Can I use the HPS bulb for a couple of weeks of longer veg? I've seen some posters use them from seed so I am hoping this is OK?? Thanks for your assistance...

I would def not do that. if you already have a short squat statured plant it will def force them to stretch and become stringy. Honestly if you have seedling less then 1 month old they are not ready for flower. Sure you might really want that crop, and two weeks seems like forever to wait to flower. But trust me my friend your plants will reward you better with a proper veg time. Usually around 45 days. Your plants should all show preflowers before hand (Or at least most). the boys should have pinecombs on top. And the girls will have what appeasrs to be small green thorn at the internodes. Which means shes bursting out of the seems to shower her flower power. When your plants are grown to this maturity clones will root faster and stronger. As well as the plant will kick into flowering mode a lot quicker. Without the proper veg itll take about 2 weeks to show pistils. But when left a while where the girls show preflowers its cut down to about 6-8 days then BOOM flowers gallore. But you really want to let the plants hit a nice veg stride then go into flowering cause the rootbal swells soo much...last crop i had my sativa yeilded about 1.5oz at39" tall. Next round i let her veg for another 14 days and get another 6" in height...the plant yeilded 3.5oz! With the same organic soil, light, room and everything! i hope this helps

Yea your plant will be fine you jus won't see the same results you would when switching from MH to HPS because of the light spectrum. But either way its better than growing with cfls as long as you got HID bro you straight.
