Spanish Fly,
When you visit America, do people threaten you with guns? Have you ever seen any evidence of guns walking down the street or minding your own business? I didn't think so.
Anti-American sentiment. Lovely. Once again, outside the questions/comments posed in my opening post. However, in response.
Without our American Gun Gungho sentiment, we would be an English Colony still. We would of been oppressed for another 50 or 100 years. Weapons have as many times been the tool of the free, as of the oppressors. A big part of our ideals when we built our country was that the Government neither had the right, nor should it have the ability to control the populous through show of force. Having a lot of guns in the hands of civilians guarantees that if the government starts to oppress the people, that the people have a force with which they can respond.
For anyone who says "Whatever, you cant fight the government" What about Afghanistan? A few thousand people have held off the 2 most powerful countries ever to exist, the United States and Russia. They will not stop fighting til foreigners leave their country.
How many rebellions has Spain had in the last 500 years? If the peoples votes of paper are no longer heeded, then guns and death shall be the way to vote.
Koroku,
Yes, we have plenty of guns to issue, however, it would be a populous of people like you who would be shooting each other on accident, or running away at the first sound of gun fire.
How do I deal with dealers? I just never hung out with scumbags who played games, I sure wouldn't be involved in illegal stuff with them. The fact that you obviously don't know a legitimate dealer who isnt a 'gansta' says something about who you hang out with, doesn't it?
Most 'gun deaths' in America are suicides, Im sure they would of found some other way to kill themselves if they didn't have access to a guns. US actually rates low compared to most European countries where they cant have guns. Its about tied with the UK.
However, keep in mind that "You Americans can keep your guns in my opinion."
Most of what you all say is 'opinions' not anything to do with right and wrong, or facts. Obviously you are forgetting that in the OPINION of a pretty good percentage of people Marijuana is a horrible drug that destroys life. Outlawing guns would make as much sense, Look at England, outlawing guns has done fuckall to help their crime rates, or suicide rates. If it doesn't matter to the crime rate, how do you justify taking guns? "Its just bad, so there" Yea, I thought so. There are only a few countries in the world where Marijuana wont get you thrown in the slammer, and I dont think its really legal in ANY of them, just wont get you arrested. (No weed is not legal in Holland or Amsterdam) How can your opinion against guns be ok, but not those peoples opinions against weed? Because you don't like it no one shall have it?
The whole point is why do you get to decide what I can own, and why would I get to decide what you can own? If you, personally, aren't harming anyone? Do I care if you get drunk, smoke a bowl, and wank off to pictures of the Queen of England? No. I don't look down on people for having abortions even though I honestly think it is akin to murder in my heart - I would always vote to support free choice in that matter, because I know that it is that persons decision, and not mine.
I would defend any one of you if your life was in danger, regardless of race, creed, or religion. If you smoke weed, or want to own donkey porn, whatever. I don't care. I just don't understand how all of you people here, who obviously like/love smoking and growing cannot accept that 40 million of your fellow Americans who are not hurting anyone enjoy having guns and it makes them feel safer. Is there any reason why you being able to do what you want to do in your personal life outweighs what I want to do in mine? Maybe I like target shooting all day long with a sniper rifle - what business is it of yours? None. That is the point. I have noticed that a lot of weed smokers are not for rights for everyone - just rights that you feel are ok. I just cannot understand how a group as oppressed and abused by our own government cannot see why the right to own a gun isn't OK, if you didn't care one way or another, I could get that, to vehemently deny another person the right to do something. The freedom to do what you want in your life if you aren't hurt anyone, isn't that something we, Marijuana Smokers/Growers, are really big on?
I understand it from European people, they have lived their life in a world that is all but communist. But we have not got that here yet, we still have a chance to be free. Disarming the group that may very well save your life one day is not a smart thing to do. 170 million people died between 1900-2000, unarmed people murdered by their own governments. Do you think if maybe 50-100 million of those people had guns, as is the case in the USA. That maybe it would of went a bit differently?
You don't have to enjoy the rights we all have, dont use yours, whatever, but dont try to take other peoples rights.
