the assassin bugs prey on the caterpillars as well?
Yes, they are very much an enemy of butterflies and caterpillars.
In fact, they can take down caterpillars many, many, times their size!
Hopefully, I'll be able to see and catch this on camera. :)

No, these bugs all showed up on their own.
I'll have to post a pic update tomorrow. Many branches are sticking through:weed:.
My earliest bloomer has been the victim of 30+ caterpillars! All of which have been pinched to death, and or thrown to the ground feeding insects.

I've been lucky so far. Although lots of caterpillars/butterflies in the area, none on the plants yet. Then again, I have been alternating BT and Seven to control pests, so maybe that has kept my ladies clean so far.

I'm in need of a little advice.:?

Should I cut her down
P9010278.jpg
Here's the details;
She's been flowering since late June giving her over 10 weeks of flower.
She's has been constantly bombarded with caterpillars totaling over 60!:fire:
None of my other girls are suffering from harmful insects if fact quite the opposite..
I'm quite sure she has stopped growing over a week ago.
I've been hoping to see her plump up, but I'm pretty sure that the hundred plus seeds and the caterpillar damage sucked all the energy out of her flowering cycle.

So, please weigh in and give me your two cents! I'm all ears!:peace:

I'd have to say snip it, if there are really that many caterpillars on that plant it's going to be long gone if you wait much longer...

There is definitely that many caterpillars I've been counting.
I killed 5 before taking those pics and you can still see caterpillars in these pics if you look close enough.

Time to snip, if you wait any longer you're probably going to get but rot and it may ruin a good portion, if not all of your plant...
