600Watt LED hydro gro-op...5 strains CLICK FOR MORE

I too have an LED grow going, I'm using a single 350w fixture, It's a six band with a combination of 1 & 3w diodes. I'm at the same place in my grow as the King is in his grow which I'm been watching on and off. Very Nice Results I might add. Here's my thoughts on the LED to HID comparison. I don't believe that a 350 fixture is the equal of a 1000w HPS. I think it will take closer to 7 to 8 hundred watts of LED to get close. That being said, the highest temp I had all summer in the room was 84 degrees with no cooling assist. And even with florescent side panels I'm using less than 1/2 the watts of an 1000w HPS. If I get a return of 75 to 80% of the HPS yield then I'll consider it a winning setup. For the next grow I'd like to add a 2nd fixture but I'll have to convince the wife the need for another $800 light.

Agreed Wattsaver. I'd say you might be able to get the same yield from a 600w LED as you would a 1000w HPS, but the LED has to be as close to the buds as possible and preferably only be covering one or two plants. Otherwise HPS has a better intensity so it doesn't have to be - and can't be - close to the plants.

Yeah thats about the ratio I was thinking, about 1400w led to relatively compare to 2000w hps, I know they advertise for less but thats advertising for ya. I like the idea of a mixed set-up, cover more of the spectrum while keeping the amount of useable lumens, wish these darn led's werent so damn expensive, Im gonna have to wait till outdoor harvest is done before I can make the investment. Any thoughts on the cool plasma lights? They certainly sound pretty high tech, just what I need is another thing I dont understand, Im not the most tech savvy guy if that wasnt already obvious, thats why I love outdoor growing so much, all I have to worry about is the plants. Thanks wattsaver for the info and anyone else who has any helpful guidance for what will be my new setup here soon. Just so you know what your working with, I was out taking pictures of the outdoor garden the other day with my sisters camera and I couldnt even figure out how to control the darn glare with the digital camera, eventually getting the pictures loaded up here oughta be fun, but you guys gotta check out the one thing I can do reasonably well. Peace every1!
Cool man, yeah I'm definitely adding my 600 watt HPS to the room next cycle. Have the HPS high up in the middle, and the two leds on the sides hella close to the tops. Should make for a helluva yield...better than a single 1000 watt HPS could do at least...

It's that time again,
The girls are all looking beautiful. I've got a 30x Microscope thingy that I use to look at the trichs, and, without knowing these strains' development pattern it's kinda hard to know for sure which are almost done...but thats what the scope is for.

Chocolope has a lot of milky glands, but a good amount of clear ones as well...this is a sativa so I don't really want too many filled with amber...and I'm not sure how much longer until that strain starts really (over) ripening.
Morning daze - although a good amount of her glands are milky, her hairs are still very white for the most part. And she's still filling out a lot. I think the MD will take the longest to ripen.
Grand Daddy Purple - she is definitely the closest to being ready to pick. All of the trichs I could find were totally milky - I like my GDP to be a real sedating medicine, so I'm going to wait until I see about half of the trichs turn amber.
Bubblegum (one of them) is also looking pretty close to being done....although I'd like to see fatter buds, but maybe they'll do better under the HPS. She could be ready this week - along with the GDP
Purple Hawaiian has some good looking trichs, but not like the GDP. I think there are still some clear glands on the PH, so she might take a week or so longer than GDP, but we'll see when it comes time to harvest.

Thats all the talk for now, here's the pics...in no real order, but I'll label which is which...description is UNDER the respective picture(s).

We had the HPS light on in this pic....thats why the lighting looks like, well, not just LEDs.

Vegging girls in drip system

Vegging girls in cloner. All of them have roots.

We're making a better setup for our vegging plants. Most likely we'll just get a better drip system going because it uses a lot less water - and therefore nutrient - than flood sysstems or ebb and flow.

Alright. Enjoy

Man, that Chocolope looks awesome. For no particular reason, I'm going to say that ends up being your best smoke out of this grow.

thanks man. I'm happy with the buds, but the LEDs certainly arent meeting my standards - which I'll have next cycle with that HPS in there:)
But as for now I'm happy with how the LEDs have produced, I essentially treated them like HPS's (having 2 of them above a 5x5 plot of plants) but I've learned that to really get a good harvest from them it would be worth having one 300w LED per 2 plants or so.
They would be perfect for SOG - as long as the canopy is even and you can just "lay" your light just a few inches from the tops. I might actually try that for the hell of it sometime....see what I get. I'm sure they would be massive with the LEDs so close to the only flower that the clone is producing...I think it'd be a bountiful harvest:)
all good man....I'm smoking on some Cheese right now and it's got me rambling like a mf'er.
peace

Hey King! Really nice LED grow you got going. I've become very interested in LEDs lately and was curious to know where you got these 300w panels? are they tri-band? 1w or 3w diodes? Thanks in advance

Man, I love these virtual visits to your garden of space-weed. Shit looks sticky and gorgeous. On a side note, my GDPs flowers look just like that, same shape and leaf pattern. Just not as big n ripe yet. I'm looking forward to the harvest man, keep it going.

Update from earlier today,
Today marks week 8 of flowering, which means the girls are almost finished (with the exception of the morning daze, which could go as long as 11 weeks, or as early as 9.

Upon close inspection with my handheld microscope I'm only seeing maybe 10% amber on the GDP trichs, that's a generous percentage too...so I'm going to give it a few more days - maybe cut it this weekend or something. It should be noted that one of the GDP branches had fallen over sometime and was badly bent - like a perfect supercrop, but I'm not trying to supercrop the week of harvest....so I cut the bit off trimmed a bit and it's currently hanging. This will give me a good idea also of how the GDP's effects are right at week 8 (for future reference).

One of the bubblegum plants was also harvested today. This strain has very thin branches that can hardly hold up the buds, and most of them are all hanging down the sides of its bucket. Thats no good on our part, but it's also no good for development. We chopped that plant and moved one of the other bubblegums into its place. I'll harvest them this weekend when (hopefully) they'll have less nute smell. The trichs are all cloudy with some amber. Good enough to try at least.

Purple Hawaiian was actually very tempting to pick from looking at her, but at a microscopic level there are still some clear trichs, a good amount of milky, but no amber - that i could see - so I'll wait til the weekend and see again. It has lost a lot of the nutey smell and is smelling a lot more exotic (hawaiian, if you will).

Chocolope is also tempting to cut because she looks and smells so good, but I havent come across any amber in any trichomes yet, so I've got to wait.

Moring Daze is not as tempting to cut because its still got a lot of white hairs, clear trichs, and plenty of more growing to done....even though it has the largest buds of all my plants, haha.

I apologize for this next part (kinda), because we're pretty sure that we're going to put the HPS light up and use one of the LEDs for our vegging closet since the girls grew so much better under that than they are under these CLFs. I apologize because I won't be able to post the finished Morning Daze under only LEDs, its last week or two will be under HPS and an LED....
tough shit, but it'd be better to get a fat yield and pay some more in those bills.

I'll post pics in another post...I have to restart my computer really quick, it's acting weird.

Hey dude, sorry I'm not gonna be much help...I bought them from a wholesale website from a company in China...I can't say what the company was called, but google 'wholesale led grow light' and see what you can find..
I seem to think they're 1watt diodes and there are 300 of them....They're red and blue spectrums only.
Good luck man! peace

i really like pic #4, plants are gonna be some dank:)
Yeah dude, Morning Daze is a heavy yielder for sure. Even with the LED a good 2 and a half feet from some of the buds and they're still big:)
Thanks for the words of encouragement man!

Thanks dude, I'm glad I could help you in you decision making of LEDs or not. I'm looking forward to next cycle with a combination of LED/HPS. Should be some excellent product.

Here's a write-up I read about Chocolope.

Chocolope still delivers traits many growers sought from the classic Thai strains - choco-smokey flavor and a dreamy high with a strong mental shift. If you are trying to alleviate anxiety, nervousness, or lack of appetite, the Chocolope id your strain. However, smokers who are sensitive to paranoia or psychedelic effects might approach this variety with caution. Even experienced smokers sometimes report unusually comic situations due to the "high school" like stone of the Chocolope. Some consider this advice a recommendation: the chocolatey 1980s high is a euphoric and trippy blast from the not-so-distant past that can spice up any weekend.

That sounds fun!

That DOES sound fun! Thanks for that Pablo, that makes me even more excited to try it out and more happy that I took another cutting of Chocolope today:)
