So whats a good, cheap soil to transplant these guys into? I'm thinking hyponex and perlite mix but i'm not sure. Anyone have any suggestions under $15ish?

Also, I think i'm going to try and incorporate a couple of these when I flower. 2,650 lumens, a lot of surface area, even coverage, regular socket base, super cheap.

I've also decided to put them on 18/6 for 3-4 weeks just so theyll have time to recover from the shock of transplanting.

FFOF soil and small bag of perlite mix 3parts soil to 1 part perlite should be about right. Heres a look at mine so far and shes been grown in exactly that same ratio. I've feed her only FF Big Bloom and molasses in between waterings, keeping her organic and she seems to be doing well so thats my 2 cents.

FF isnt available locally that I know of and $20ish dollars for a small bag of potting mix seems effing ridiculous to me.

Perlite is like $5 a bag, whats something I could pick up at wally world/home depot/chain stores thats decent enough to use as soil and like $5-10 a bag as well? I'm gonna want to be transplanting these guys in a week or two so I need to get this figured out.

No no no, thats not what I meant at all. Your input, experience and help are greatly appreciated, its just that at this stage of my mary j growing career, spending $20+ on soil for 2 plants is hard to justify. I really hope you stick around because youve been nothing but nice and helpful but if you feel unwanted, im sorry because thats not what I was trying to convey at all.

Well, it would seem I have a bit of a situation on my hands here. 2 of my plants are essentially seriously pissed off at me., theyre not growing but theyre kind of hanging on and my 3rd, while still growing, seems to be on her way to pretty stressed as well. I'm really not sure whats causing it either. Theyve been at a good distance from the lights, temps have been 82 for the past week or so. I dont think i'm over watering, I typically go 3-4 days depending on how the pots feel. Any ideas guys?

These guys sprouted 2 weeks ago today and i'm trying to figure out wtf is going on. They havent had nutes or anything like that, just filtered tap water. Theyre tiny from what I can tell and theyre definitely not healthy.

The one good looking plant, although she seems to be droopy and her coloring is slightly off from a few days ago. She also seems to be growing ridiculously slow and shes doing the best of the 3

Not as droopy but she has some weird coloring going on here and hasnt grown visibly for a few days

This one got burnt by the lights probably 8 days ago, hasnt ever fully recovered. I'm thinking the same thing thats going on with the other two is happening here as well.

They were an inch closer until 3 days ago and I pulled the lights up some.

I'm thinking it may be the soil, it could be ph issues. I really have no idea what to look for or what to expect, so im confused.

Looks like your over watering and and your using poor water use distilled. And put the lights about 4 inches away,.

Alright, I'm going to find some better soil shortly, i'm thinking the mg was too hot for them and retaining way too much water, I'm a tard and didnt mix in perlite. I'm gonna transplant them and germ a few new seeds and see what happens.

i would say its compressed soil from having no perlite in it...the roots are not getting air.each time you water it it settles and compacts the soil more and more.and i wouldnt doubt they have root rot...cut a few good size holes in the bottom of each container.when you water them about 20% of the water you pour into should flow out the bottom

Alright, I need to switch containers anyway. I got some scott's garden soil which doesn't have time released nutes in it, I also planned to get perlite as well but the only one that I could find stocked locally was MG with a bunch of nutes in it so I passed, I did pick up some vermiculite to keep the soil aerated, my question is, how much vermiculite should I mix in, if I dont have perlite?

i dont use vermiculte...i only use perlite/peat moss/soil mixes...which i do a 1/3 of each...i wouldnt go half and half with that stuff.id try like a 80/20 mix.its about the soil consistency, after you water it you should be able to take a handfull of it and make a ball that holds together..but breaks up easy when its touched...least thats how i do it when i add perlite.i would start them in small containers with a 80/20 mix of what you have...then at 3-4 weeks when they are ready to transplant....pick up some of the mg perlite and mix it with your other mix then transplant it into its finally home.at that stage the seedling is more then able to handle the small amount of nutes that the perlite adds

also..if you do get perlite...remember to wash it first...that stuff has a powder/fert combo of stuff that build up in it....rinse it off really well before using it

if you want the best stuff...will ahve to pay top $ for it....yeah the mg perlite will have nutes in it..but not enough to matter long as its almost out of the seedling phase.dont go by what some people say on here...most of these that say mg is shit have never even used it.long as you read your plant you can use almost any named soil....just dont start seeds in that stuff.i got my soil and everything else i added into it at walmart this time...now i live where there isnt a hydro store anywhere near me..so i take what i can get...and where i live i cant get it mailed to me...so i got some MG moisture control,mg perlite, and mg peat moss....has worked just fine for me...i just do a good flush after each feeding...keeps down the nute burn and the plant gets all that it needs.i go all organic with my ferts till bloom...worm casting tea is great to use...can use as much as you want..no chance of nute burn..bat guano works great also.you wont find that at walmart...but ive got a guy on ebay that hooks me up with pre made worm casting tea bags....cost $2-$10 depending on the size bag i get............for right now...let the soil dry out as much as it can...get something else to transplant them in...water the soil at the time your ging to pull them out of there old pot..place them into its new pot with new soil thats been watered before hand...then let it go dry again before watering.right now there not getting any air....and also pick up a ph tester while your at walmart...ph can make a huge difference.
