For along time growers have been asking the same question....whats the diff in potting sizes? More times than not it ends up in a debate and someone suggest to just try it and see for themselves. Well for along time i myself wondered the diff and decided to try it and post results.
This will be done with 4 pots, two 1 gal, and two 2 gal with the same soil and same clones in all 4. Strain is Cinderella99, all 4 cuts were taken at the same time and received the same veg time. They were rooted in peat pucks and then re-potted into the pots shown and flipped to 12/12. The results were crazy, the 2gal pots took off with crazy branching and shot up quickly in height. The 1 gal pots were just as fast to flower but i noticed right away that they were not growing vertically very well. The bud mass seems smaller as well. This pic was taken on day 22 of 12/12, both sets of plants are very frosty and healthy, but the 1gal pots def lack the mass, stem strength and overall appearance that the larger ones do.
Even thought the results seem pretty clear i will continue to update this until harvest... height, wet and dry weights will be given.
My thoughts as of now, i think it would silly to skimp out on an extra gal of soil, mind you you can fit alot more 1 gal pots in a grow space, after seeing the results for myself your better off with less pots and more rootmass all day long
This was only done as an experiment, no C99s were hurt in the making of this post
