Ok mate, I assume you haven't got a seperate veg area, and also that your on a budget. Here's what you need to do. For veg stage you need a 70w or 150w Metal halide floodlight ($40ish) with 18 on 6 off light periods. Also, get a home brewing wine or beer kit ($10-25) and either stick it in a corner, or vent it into the room somehow (extra co2 makes a huge differance to your yeild). Then for flowering your gonna need a a 400-600w HPS floodlight ($65), (btw, these kinda floodlights will have a built in ballast, so a strong method of hanging them and adjusting the height is needed(chains and s hooks etc), if your really poor.. using some bolt cutters (wear gloves and insulate the handles with electrical tape) they can be 'scavanged' from comercail buildings/churchs etc... Blue/white lights are probably MH, orange are HPS). CFL's may seem a good idea, but to get an equivilant amount of lumens, you will spend almost as much to start with, and much more on electric bill. You will save the extra cash in the first month of growing. Get the most out of your lights by hanging space blankets on the walls, about $1 each. During flowering, you want a 12/12 light cycle. Invest in a timer, you will forget to change the cycle one day, and this can mess everything up during flowering. Make sure your timer is rated to handle the amount of wattage you are using. There is so much more to tell, but this should see that you get at least 0.5g/watt even if you make some mistakes.
Last thing, if you want to grow more of that variety, take cuttings (at least 2 from each plant) at least a week before you start flowering. Label these cuttings, so you know what plants they came from, and throw away any that came from male plants. The lights you are using atm will be perfect to start off the cuttings in a cuboard somewhere. Plus if u can find a place to use as a veg area, you can get them ready for the next harvest, and get a crop every 2 months instead of 3.
OK, idk how much you know, so I will leave it there for now, but let me know if you need to know anything else, or are not sure about anything.
