Also take note of my previous post and consider more shoplights. You can get over 1.5oz with 4x 2' 2 bulb shop lights, I did with my first grow.

see the shop light was 30 but would i be better gettin one more or should i jus get 2 cfls an use them plus the shop light were should i place the cfls

Run 18/6 light schedule, the only time you really want 24/0 light is when you take a clone from a flowering plant and make it go back into vegetative cycle.

well, not entirely true, its is thought that our plants root a lot more during their dark period, they also show a lot more growth during the dark period, but it is deceptive. The plants do show more growth after 6 hours of dark opposed to full light but it is more stretch than additional growth. cannabis is also able to use all the co2 it gathers during the day, during the day.

i run 18/6 as electricity plays its part to me and the 6 hours a day adds up a bit. as well the difference between 18 and 24 hour light in end result doesnt seem to be too big considering the length many of us veg for anyway.

as you can see im still torn between, but i chose electricity and slightly taller/longer plants.

Also you can get some lamp fixtures at home depot. they come with a clamp on them so you can stick em anywhere. if you are using 42w bulbs 4 of them around the plant would be fine, for veg and pop as many as you can get during flowering, just watch the heat.

Yeah that one 400w mh would work Great for vegging. It will get hot though so make sure you have the fans and ducting to assist cooling. Also the metal halide bulb isn't the best for flowering, you will get potent bud, but longer flowering and less yield.

I'm running 3, 68 watt cfl's at 2,700K each bulb is as bright as a 300watt. Got them from Home Depot. And 3, 56 watt CFL's that are running about as bright as a 200 watt bulb these are 6,500k which I got at a different hardware store most bulbs will say what color and how many lumes they put out. The more the watt's the more lumes you'll get and the better.

Check these out, this is something you'll want to look into. The 68 watt bulbs I got at home deport are pushing 60 lumes per watt so what I got are a bit brighter then these. But at least you get a good idea, or you can go with these.

If your doing 1 to 4 plants I'd get Three (6,500k), (for vegging and if you do clones)
And 3 to 4 (2,700). for flowering and for vegging after their a couple weeks old.

If you dont have many funds I'd get 2 of each for now and by at least 1 more 2,700k when you flower.

The two links for the bulbs i gave you will fit a medium clamp light which you can find for about 8 bucks each. Its a standard size base you'd use for a house bulb.

Here's my A.I under CFL

so how many lights an what type for say jus 3 plants were do i place them an where do i put the shop light im goin to transplant them in bout 3 weeks or so into a gallon should i use bigger than that?

Get the one like that that has a reflector built in. Otherwise yeah, should work fine..

its easy dude, get a couple power strips. then goto home depot in the electrical dept. and find the lightbulb sockets that plug into a wall outlet. right next to those is the "y" splitter ( technical term is "wye" ), get equal splitters and sockets. then get twice as many bulbs as you got splitters. make sure to get 2700k and 6500k. 60-80 watts per plant minimum ( 3 or 4 23w, 100w equivalent )will be good. this is the easiest cheapest way you can do it. check out the grow in my sig. good luck with yours!

Ok mate, I assume you haven't got a seperate veg area, and also that your on a budget. Here's what you need to do. For veg stage you need a 70w or 150w Metal halide floodlight ($40ish) with 18 on 6 off light periods. Also, get a home brewing wine or beer kit ($10-25) and either stick it in a corner, or vent it into the room somehow (extra co2 makes a huge differance to your yeild). Then for flowering your gonna need a a 400-600w HPS floodlight ($65), (btw, these kinda floodlights will have a built in ballast, so a strong method of hanging them and adjusting the height is needed(chains and s hooks etc), if your really poor.. using some bolt cutters (wear gloves and insulate the handles with electrical tape) they can be 'scavanged' from comercail buildings/churchs etc... Blue/white lights are probably MH, orange are HPS). CFL's may seem a good idea, but to get an equivilant amount of lumens, you will spend almost as much to start with, and much more on electric bill. You will save the extra cash in the first month of growing. Get the most out of your lights by hanging space blankets on the walls, about $1 each. During flowering, you want a 12/12 light cycle. Invest in a timer, you will forget to change the cycle one day, and this can mess everything up during flowering. Make sure your timer is rated to handle the amount of wattage you are using. There is so much more to tell, but this should see that you get at least 0.5g/watt even if you make some mistakes.
Last thing, if you want to grow more of that variety, take cuttings (at least 2 from each plant) at least a week before you start flowering. Label these cuttings, so you know what plants they came from, and throw away any that came from male plants. The lights you are using atm will be perfect to start off the cuttings in a cuboard somewhere. Plus if u can find a place to use as a veg area, you can get them ready for the next harvest, and get a crop every 2 months instead of 3.
OK, idk how much you know, so I will leave it there for now, but let me know if you need to know anything else, or are not sure about anything.

If you can find a deal like this in the USA - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COMPLETE-600w-GROW-LIGHT-KIT-WITH-HPS-SUNMASTER-LAMP_W0QQitemZ270681693501QQcategoryZ43555QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DDLSL%252BSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D8%26pmod%3D270678284694%252B270678284694%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5765478382512263420
Then go for it, but you will need venting, one of my fiirst grwos was in a similar space, and i use 4" bathroom extractor fans venting into the roof space, 1 should do for a 400w though 2 would be best for a 600w. Also a 6" fan for air circulation helps alot, have it blowing accross the tops of the plants, this will make them stronger, and help to reduce the heat from the lights.
