$260 wow that light would wana be worth it... Would u say the growth difference is big?? cus i can get a 400w HPS for $160, what i would love to see is two grows done at the same time with one using HID's and the other using LED's and really see the differenceI was using cfl's but i began having heat issues during flowering so i switched to led's. I too was very skeptical of led's but after a week all my worrying was pushed aside by some big buds.
I paid $260 for my blackstar 240watt and the flowering model light which I have is also good for veg but i may just use cfl's.
I'm thinking 200Boy I hope the price on the Kessils keep on dropping this fast. You have any guesses where they will platue Viagro.
I found these guys.Interesting setup. What are the specs on those lights?
You don't know the color? Or k temp? You need to be sure of the light frequencies you are working with.I found these guys.
they seem pretty legit. although i think because of this being my first time im not really
able to determine how effective they are compared to another source.
or determine a good ratio for weeks to plant size.
I have two plants going with a 240watt and it seems to be plenty of lighting for my two big girlsSo if anyone has read the last few comments in this thread they would have seen me trying to defend HID lighting systems, after a brief discussion with a few guys on here about the blackstar LED ight im pretty determined to start a LED grow myself. What my question is, is what type of set up should i look at for a small grow cabinet consisting of two plants??
I plan on keeping my HID for flowering but I'd like to go t5 or LED for me vegging plants in order to keep my heat down. LEDs seem expensive but if they this one unit can maintain 6 vegging plants I will go for it. But because I am new to LED lingo I can't quite decide. Can anyone help me out?I have two plants going with a 240watt and it seems to be plenty of lighting for my two big girls
And its not all about bud size.....strain has a lot to do with bud size also
my sour og has five huge tops and the chemdawg has smaller nugs and more budsites
and my closet dropped from over 105F to about 78F
You need no ventilation for heat. You will get superior light penetration with your Kessil, you made a good choice. Other LED lights are good, just different in the way they concentrate and project their light. Good luck....so the point is...will this led light...the purple kessil 150 run cool enough to not need any type of ventilation to cool the closet down...i can use regular fans but thats it...maybe crack a window at times

Also how much of a pain is it to change bulbs when busted or dimming?
This unit is USA made which is my main turn on here (that and keeping temps cool):

4" should do it, but you'd still probably want a fan speed controller.im wondering myself if i should get away with a 4" fan with a carbon filter for my 3x3 grow tent that I'm thinking of getting once i put a 240w led unit in there or should i just pay the dough for the 6" model and use a fan controller to turn it down a notch for noise sake.
I'm going to be going down the secret jardin tent/kessil lights/soil grow route. I'd love to start off with 3 lights, but due to finances think I'll have to start with 1. Was going to go with a magenta but would the purple be better?
Also its great to hear that you don't need any fans ducting out the heat (using a kessil). as a complete newb with no DIY skills, that part sounded the most difficult to set up. Thing is I'm conscious of odour control, can you just hang a carbon filter in the tent? Or does it only work if your pulling air through it? Also how good is the ONA gel? I've realised I've got space for a 4/5 plant tent & need to understand how to control odours without the use of saws, drills & power tools. Any help appreciated!
i think you should be ok with a setup like im going to do with a 4" inline fan with a fan controller on it. i think im going to go with one of those sunleaves windtunnel models since ive seen good things about them. Idk what filter im putting but itll be the best bang for buck thats for sure lol. btw you need a fan to use a carbon filter the exhaust has to pass through it to filter.I'm going to be going down the secret jardin tent/kessil lights/soil grow route.
