if your gonna medicate yoself, Kush is the way to go!
Thats supposed to be real deal chemdawg so you should be fine..Thanks stinkmeaner.
I have smoked OG kush before that came from California and it was really good weed and really helped with appetite and nausea so that was why i picked it. I hope RP's OG Kush is similar.
I think the first choice on your list is the best for a newbie - and will not disappoint experienced growers.Hey everyone, I am a new grower looking to choose a strain. I'm growing some bagseeds right now for practice but I would like to order a real strain. I'm using for medical, so I'd like it to help with nausea and increase appetite. I also want it to help me sleep.
I want an indica that is short and easy to grow for a newbie, resistant to over/under watering and can take a little extra nutes (I'm still getting the hang of this).
I'm ordering from Attitude, so far the strains I really like are...
DNA Genetics LA Confidential
DNA Genetics Kushberry
Reserva Privada Sour Kush/Fake Headband
TGA Subcool Vortex
TGA Subcool Jilly Bean
TGA Subcool Jack the Ripper
Paradise Nebula
Cali Connection Chem4OG
Which one of those strains would be good for a newbie? Also if you have other suggestions feel free to throw them out there, but I would really like if you could help me choose two strains from the list. Or if you know another indica from DNA Genetics/Reserva Privada/TGA/Cali Connection thats good for a newbie I would really appreciate that too.
Plus I'm really happy that Attitude just changed their freebies to Dutch Passion, those strains they are giving away look great.
Thanks for the help.
Yeah - the real LA Conf I know is, basically, a big yielding Bubba... and often passed as straight out Bubba. LA Affie (what is that a mix of?) ....there's no Bubba in that?what bubba in la conidential... l.a. affie x afghani is not bubba..
la confidential is a low yielder..
Can you find anything that can back up this claim because i sure cant..Do you know the mix of la affie?Yeah - the real LA Conf I know is, basically, a big yielding Bubba... and often passed as straight out Bubba. LA Affie (what is that a mix of?) ....there's no Bubba in that?

Can you show me?
Thank you for that bit of knowledge.I thought you might all want to know this info.......
After much contemplation of starting this thread(I have a feeling some Bubba lovers will be heartbroken), I decided to post it because I believe the PRE98 OG Bubba and Oregon Afghani are the same strain..
Please feel free to add any first hand information that you might have.
old hypothesis=
PRE98 Bubba is either an s1 or a clone of the Oregon Afghani clone that has been renamed (I personally think it's a renamed clone because they are exactly the same)
I'm not one for believing weed stories of clone only strains without proof, especially when I've seen first hand renaming in the Medical Dispensary era to try and gain sales with catchy names. I can't tell you how many strains I've come across that are the same as older cuts, but just have new names...
It's a pet-peeve of mine.... I think names should be kept the same for the integrity of cannabis' future...although, other people may believe in renaming strains to increase sales...
In the US people prefer to buy Kush over Afghani, it has been proven with dispensary sales.
My story;
In 1996 I was first introduced to the Oregon Afghani when a friend who I worked with turned me on to this strain. His father had this strain since late 1970s/early 80s. My friend claimed his Dad and hippy friends had acquired the afghani seeds while traveling on Dead tour in 1970s.
The dad and his friends always referred to this bud as Affy or Ghanni, never Afghani (at least back then). These guys grew the best weed I smoked at that point in time and really motivated me to step up my grows. After my first grow with her, I became uninterested in growing the Oregon Afghani due to it's super slow veg time because my grow situation at the time required faster vegging plants to keep the rotation on track.
After a number of years when my grow space increased, and I ended up acquiring the Oregon Afghani Clone as well as a strain called OG Bubba Kush from a different friend.
These strains were so similar that I opted to discontinue growing the OG Bubba because I could not tell the difference between the two(and I knew the source of the Oregon Afghani was legit). My friend who gave me the OG bubba swore that I mislabeled them, but I swore I did not.
To make sure they didn't get mixed up, again we got the Oregon Afghani clone from the source (old man hippy). Sure enough it was the same strain that I was familiarized with. hmmm... this is when I became suspicious (approx. 2002)
A number of years later I got back the "PRE98" OG Bubba from my friend who has been growing it since the first time I received the Bubba clone from him.
Conclusion;
After several grows, comparisons, and blind taste tests between friends we've all come to the conclusion that these are in fact the EXACT same genetics.
In the last year I have been seeding both the Ghanni and Bubba with the same males to see how similar the seeds are... You can't tell the difference.
It's kinda crazy... I feel like I just found out that Santa Clause was not real..
here are a few pics... I'll get some more evidence coming soon.
OREGON AFGHANI clone
old pic from years ago
Oregon Afghani recent pic from last spring
PRE98 BUBBA
recent pic from this summer
dna used a la afgani in there la con and i always said it was a bubba cross...is the la affie and oregon affie the same too ??
I would not be surprised bman.
They Can't pull fast ones over on weed detectives like us Bman..lol
I saw your Bubba that you recently grew and it also looked very much like this Afghani as well. Very nice smoke for sure.
I do know that quite a few people acquired this clone in 1998 after my friends dad got involved with the OMMP medical communities after Oregon became legal for medical cannabis. I'm sure it reached the cali dispensaries in a heartbeat.
Also,my friend that grows the Bubba, was gifted it from his friend in nor Cal and he brought it back to Oregon.
Interesting topic none the less. Lol
sounds like a good match to me....
i always thought bubba was a hippie trail find from an old worked ancestral line in the stans somewhere.... and i know im not alone on that one...
but the la affie aka bombay affie cut is real, my close friend was the one who sourced the cut for dna, and does look, smell, and grow simmilar to the bubba.....
i love it when things get all blunted sherlock holmes....
im still waiting on the cannabis history book BH, i know you would do us proud, and you have most of the chapters allready done....
Bubba is definitely from seed digger, but its considered a "clone only" strain.
My experience tells me Bubba is close to pure Afghan and not bubblegum x kush.
I've grown the original Indiana Bubblegum years ago and Bubba has absolutely no resemblance.
I guess the main reason I started this thread is to mythbust the bubba's far fetched story because this is in fact identical to the Oregon Afghan clone that has been around much longer than the "Bubba's" name.
Thanks for everyone's input, I think we're onto something.
its real i just think it came from oregon first and was renamed in cali. my boy has some la conf right now looks just like one of ur plants i think it was the bubba(the last one i commented on in ur journal)but here is what i got from other growers who know more about it..
The Affie strain is an old killer afghan variety from Southern California with a fast and hard-knocking, but also psychedelic turn that had been around in L.A. for a long time, much sought after also for its extraordinarily sweet and soft flavour, but never available as seed or clone. The original plants were kept under lock and key by certain growers. A couple of years ago, they finally gave Don and Aaron (DNA Genetics) access to the Affie, however, only in the form of a female cutting.
very interesting..lmaoGreat thread! Interesting to hear about the pre-cursors for some of the modern varieties that are out there!
