If she's convinced he's a fawkin arsehole and says so openly, sex could be the reason. There could be a number of reasons, actually. Financial security comes to the top of the list as well. And life security. IOW : He's not going anywhere with anyone else at all and she knows that+money+a big ol wang. Or some combination there-of.

Big problem with abusers is they isolate their victim, cause them to distant themselves from their family and friends, then it's hard for them to leave because they feel they have nowhere else to go. When u feel u have pushed everyone away and denied the fact that someone did hurt u it's hard to ask or get help. I never thought a man would hurt me but one did, i just stabbed him with a fork, packed my shit and left. I was lucky
 
my brother lives by this rule. he came home one night to school his ex-wife and she was waiting for him with a steak knife. she cut his dumbass from head to toe. he still beats his ole ladys, part of that outlaw biker lifestyle. i don't get it.

if theyre isolated, and literally have nowhere to go but the streets, i could understand that. in that case, they dont really have much of a choice.
but good for u for the fork thing. nobody deserves to get hurt by the person they love

April has it right, they create this world where the woman feels like she has nothing without the man, no matter how weird or bad things are getting. hopefully the woman can find a way out, no matter what way, a fork is a good one :) stay strong ladies
