Heads up. It's a hell of a lot easier than you think. And it's not illegal as long as you don't spend it. You just have to be creative, but it's a fun hobby. Not really unethical either. I mean, our government prints as much money as they want. They don't have to back it up on anything, since the gold standard doesn't exist anymore. Ask me anything about the process. Just keep in mind that it's extremely realistic play money, not intended for legal tender. But I'll also answer hypothetical questions.

Yet you'd have no problem breaking the law to smoke if you didn't live in Michigan, I'm sure. Besides, this isn't a thread about counterfeiting. That's a criminal offense, and I would never advocate it. It's a thread about printing fake money to pretend you are rich for facebook pictures. This, I believe, falls into the financial discussion. Printing fake money has many uses. Another good one is for movie scenes. I mean, nobody really has a briefcase of $1,000,000 to blow up! That's why realistic "dummy money" is created.

I've heard something like you bleach off dollar bills, then somehow reprint them? But not sure how because of the complex designs and such that is used...

You bleach a $5, because of the strip inside (singles dont have it) and turn it into a $20...from what i have heard and read you will need multiple printers to make it good.,

When it comes to bleaching, it's actually an ammonia substance you have to "cook" the bills in over the stove in a pan. It's hard to do without making the bill blotchy. I have a friend who just attempted to leave the bill in bleach, and that just puts holes in it. People have done that though. Google "Superbill".

what style printer do you use that has the metal particles in the ink that let the bills pass the scanners test

Hypothetically, if you make fake money, you don't need to fool everyone. You only have to fool one person to spend it. For example, printing fake 10's. 10 dollar bills rarely go under scrutiny. Hypothetically, you could go to a dollar general or mcdonalds and give a teenager working for minimum wage your 10, and buy a $1 item. Free item, free money back.

As far as bleaching goes, I believe it's a waste of time since passable bills can be made with a lot less effort. The only time they would know if a bill was fake is if you put it in a vending machine, or it goes to a bank. I think a lot of people here make purchases in denominations of about $10, with money that won't be going near the bank.

Now you are flirting with a discussion involving illegal actions. Defacing or destroying currency is a felony. No one bleaches bills to make "funny money".

You sure are tossing out a lot of hypotheticals and maybes and supposses for a thread suppossedly about making play money for a facebook pic. Not only is the item and the change that the victim gave you in return not free, neither was the item you stole.

Asking anyone to believe that this thread is about anything other than illegal counterfeiting is just plain silly. A blind man could see through this thread.

Wanna stop being a hater? I figured there were people who were genuinely curious about this, and I could answer their questions on it. I believe that knowledge is always a good thing, whether it's applied or not. If you don't want to learn about this, don't flame me for helping other people. And no, hypothetical situations are NOT illegal. Thank God I live in a country where suspicion alone doesn't constitute a crime.
