This is not my first grow, but due to some events that transpired while I was in the middle of a decent personal grow, our normal guy had an unfortunate visit from the law. So I broke everything down and stashed parts all over my house and property *lol*. Paranoia can be a good thing at times I guess.
Out of the two grows I completed, the first one was a major learning experience and I screwed a lot up. Grew in the attic, in the open in the early spring. Temps were pretty good for it. The beast got to like 4 feet tall and I couldn't wrap my arms around the canopy. I then proceeded to burn half of it up with nutes and a heater that was pointed right at it. I got a few grams off what could have potentially been an oz or more (shitty lighting). Oh and it sucked. My second grow was in a store bought utility cab, I had good circulation, proper temps, but I burned her up a little with nutes. I pulled a half off it in dry weight. Not bad I guess. Better high than what it came from.
So I am working on getting this going again - it's just for me and the wife. We normally do 1/4 to 1/2 a week, but she's prego now so.. I don't need much!
So let's get on with it. My current box was put together this past weekend from some of the parts of my other boxes that I had messed up anyhow cause I was stoned when putting them together
Setup:
Box One: 2x2x3'
Box Two: 2x2'
Box Three: 2x2x4 or 2x3x4 (coming in a few weeks)
Grow Medium: MG soil (yeah, I know)
Lighting: CFL. Most are 23w mix of 2700K and 6500K with a few higher powers sprinkled in. Number of lights varies. Starting this journal with 1x23w 2700K, 3x23W 6500K and 1x65watt 2700K
Light Cycle: 24/0, 12/12
Environment: boxes inside attic
Nutes: Veg - Schultz 20-30-20. Flower - Green Light Super Bloom 12-55-6 w/ 0.10% chelated iron (yikes!)
Start Dates:
A2: seedling transplanted 12/5/2010. Think they sprouted maybe 2-3 weeks prior.
B1 and B2: Germmed on 12/17 and planted 12/22
C1: Germmed on 12/17 and planted on 12/22
When I started doing this again about a month and a half ago, I just threw some germinated seeds into soil and then transplanted a few. Of those, only one remains and its name right now is "A2".
Of the seeds I started about 3-4 weeks after, three remain - B1, B2 and C1.
These are all from random bags we have had in the past. The letters designate which "batch" they came from. As came from some seeds I had not bagged up yet, Bs came from an "unknown" mix and Cs come from a bag named "Willy". Willy was the last batch we had from our dude before things went nuts.
Due to the horrible conditions I was growing in (attic, no climate control) and the fact my area got hit by one of those snow storms that swept through the south/east portion of the US, it was rather cold.
All of the As were grown like that. A1 is still alive, but outside the box with no light. I am going to kill it. A3-A5 were all burnt up by a heater I had cut up too high when I tried to keep them warm.
The current B and C batch had a few harsh days, but the temps came back up slightly so they were growing at around 50 degrees.
Now, everything is in my box, with a small ceramic heater. I have a thermometer in there finally and the temp is currently sitting around 71 degrees. I am slowly cutting the heater up until the temp stabilizes around 75.
Since the cabinets are so short, I am trying LST for the first time with the Bs and Cs. Everything is kind of ghetto right now, so I am using bread ties and skewers as my constraints.
The Bs came up really short and bushy. So leafy they made me think of lettuce.
A2 I cut way back as it had grown too tall. So it's back to 4 main branches in the pic below, but the longest one I chopped as well. This plant has been regulated to the "experiment" bin. This will allow me to personally observe how growth hormones are redistributed and how cutting can effect the growth and overall health of the plant. It's one thing to read about something, it's another to do it and see it happen.
I am going to switch to the Make It Rain technique for watering here soon.
Anyhow, on to the pics! If you have read this far, thank you
