Canadian Medical Marijuana Patients & Growers

I had to wait 4 months before I could meet with my specialist... You have to get your physician to send you over to the specialist. By law, he has to, if you request it... But be prepared to wait a while. If your specialist is known to give out mj prescriptions, there will definitetely be a long waiting list...

Health Canada has had an increase in applications, so they're a little slower as well. One way to speed up the process, once you've submitted the applications, is to call your local MP's office, and complain. As his/her constituent, you have this right, and they should represent you by contacting health canada. Complain about whichever condition that it is that you're suffering from

Hope this helps

I also 2nd the Do No Harm Clinic, just google it. They will help you figure everything you need out and find you a doctor in your area. But yes, you do at least need documentation of your symptoms from someone considered a specialist aka not a GP. The Dr then signs off on it and you're good to go. AFAIK, once you have a dr's backing it all but guarentees the application. If I'm wrong I'd like to know because I'm in the midst of getting my application completed now.

Good luck!

If you have a bona fide medical condition HealthCanada will tread very lightly when it comes to rejecting what a doctor is signing off on.

My best advice to people applying is to make sure your request is reasonable... if you want to hit the ground running with 5 plus grams per day,,, you are asking for headaches...'

My doc signed off on 3 grams daily and that lets me grow 15 indoor plants.... this is all good.

I'm working with the do no harm clinic.. Almost been a year since I've hooked up with them, still no card.
Their doctor recommended me for 5 grams off the bat; didn't even ask for it - I hardly smoke a gram a day as is.

I have started my process and applied in Ontario.
I have finally been able to stop taking the mind bending, depression inducing citalopram(celexa)!!
Instead of living in a room agoraphobic and anxious, I now am a full time college student and have been able to leave the Ontario Disability program.
Marijuana really has given me the ability to rise form the ashes and begin to enjoy life.

I was approved for 4.5 grams/day by my doctor today!!!
Very compassionate and understanding man who clearly recognized the vast improvement in my overall health since switching to cannabis as a medicine for
my various ailments!!
I am very happy I don't have to consider growing the middle of the woods and risking serious legal problems just to supply myself with medicine. :D
I can't help but feel like I want to help others who need or could benefit from cannabis as a medicine for their health issues.
Canada is really great.

Does anyone know the requirement to get a Canadian Medical license? I self medicate to deal with nausea & perhaps anxiety.. which is a symptom of Sleep Apnea.. My blood oxygen gets so low at night that when I wake up I am both exhausted & dizzy.

I have been prescribed a apnea machine & have been using it for about 6 months now & it certainly helps but I still need the weed to help control the nausea. I was puking so hard for a while that I blew the whites of my eyes out. Made them go al blood red. Real nice..

Having to pull over & throw up on the high way in the middle of the day was real nice to deal with too. My Dr. also prescribed me valume but I don't like to take it. Weed works by far the best for me.

My daughter is 17 yrs old and will be getting her license hopefully soon. The Dr's have signed and sent the forms to health Canada She is bedridden so I will have to pick up her meds or have them delivered. She is terminally ill with Cancer and has been given 6-8weeks as a time frame.....Her story can be read if you follow the link in my signature or if you are a facebooker her page is "the real team becca"

You can qualify by just having chronic nausea. And honestly that kinda sounds like what I have even tho I have never been diagnosed with anything for my nausea, but I wake up every morning so sick and usually vomit. Im having great difficulty finding work because of it.

Waiting for the card to arrive or the clinic is delaying?

Well I sent in my papers (the doctor signed and they provided me with a designated grower) and waited 6 months. They came back and the background check for my first DG didn't come out clean. Apparently he has an offense on his record, but not drug related. Health Canada won't let you grow if you've been convicted of a drug crime. Unfortunately, the RCMP won't say definitely on paper that its not a drug charge. I'm not sure why, I think its because he used to live in AB, committed the crime there and moved to BC.
My 2nd DG was in the process of getting set up and then he just skipped town, so I had to get a 3rd one. Those papers are being processed now, which is why its taking FOREVER.

I'm just starting the process myself with them, I've submitted my application to them and have an appointment with the doctor soon.

I hope my DG is good to go, let me know his first name in private message if you can.

Other than that, I'm confident it'll go through, as I said this is more recently this has happened.

Well folks time is really flying... I have to go to see my doc soon to get my renewal paperwork done.... last year did it late may for Aug renewal and no bananas... didn;t get new card till early september.,... doing renewal early April this year.... not going thru the stress of having an out of date license with renewal submitted and a very healthy grow room....

if it's taking forever and you're *thinking about calling them, you should just do it. when we called the inquiry line they just took our information and said they were going to put us on the waiting list for a callback, and that the actual callback could take 7 to 10 days (it took 13). which also sucks because now you're at the beck and call of your phone. i hate having to answer 1800/866/877/etc. numbers just in case it's them (it's usually a bill reminder or something you know?)

greetings from bc, fellow cannabians!
