New 3 watt LEDs

Wow, got a new Spectra 150 grow panel today on the right in the pic. The picture gives a very rough comparison to the 120 watt Doberman Growl 1 watt grow panel on the left. The picture really doesn't do it justice and be warned, make sure you're using eye protection around these high wattage LEDs. I'm ordering several more of these lights and plan a 36"x36" scrog under them. BTW the plant in the foreground was grown to this point under a Penetrator 126 watt led panel-it's going to be repurposed as my mother light.

New Spectras use all 2w LEDs so what are you talking about 3watt leds for? :P
Could you do me a favor and measure the dimensions of your Spectra 120 real quick? Is it a 2011 model?

I'm talking about the light I just bought uses 3w LEDs, I'm a bit careful about how I spend my money so I tripled checked that before providing my cc info. Perhaps you're thinking of another manufacturer's product with a similiar model name? Here's a link to the product info page for my light, it provides the dimensions as well (At 7 pounds and measuring 15 3/4 x 8 1/2 x 2 1/4) http://growledhydro.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=0&products_id=5

Looks nice!

As per the web site....
3 watt/3 LED So 1 watt per LED

The new 2011 model (dont know if yours is the newest model that was released just a few weeks ago)
but here was his post (Mike from growledhydro...)
The new models are as follows:

Spectra LED 150w
(100pcs 2w led) True Power 153.29W

Spectra LED 240w
(160pcs 2w led) True Power:239.66W

Spectra LED 395w
(252pcs 2w led) True Power:395.32W

He also stated afterwards there is really a mix of 2 and 3w LEDs but still... 2 or 3w will be nice

So either 1w or 2w/3w but still should be a kick ass light

The panel actually uses a mixture of 3w and 2w led's. Spectra LED panels use twelve true wavelengths two out of the twelve are 2w chips because those two specific wavelengths can not be made in anything higher.

Yeah I was really impressed with all the Spectra LED journals over at 420magazine.com
I'm getting the new 395w myself, I would have gotten two 240w instead but my tent is only 2.5ft x 2.5ft

Now I'm thoroughly confused, where did you get this product listing? Mike's website hasn't been updated, check the link in my post. I ordered a 120 watt (actual power draw 180 watts, that was what was on my order form, that's what I presumed I received. I've not seen these 150 watt, 204w & 395w panels you refer to. From the website I linked to in my post......................

"Spectra LED 120
$389.99
The Spectra-LED 120 (Actual Power Draw 180 watts) Light System emits an unmatched 12+ wavelengths of illumination, uses 3 watt/3 chip LED's at a 90 degree viewing angle unlike any other system on the market today. This powerful system excels in any indoor growing method including, hydroponics, aeroponics, or soil.

At 7 pounds and measuring 15 3/4 x 8 1/2 x 2 1/4, this 110 volt dynamo draws a mere 0.35 to 1.25 amps yet delivers 120 watts of light and works in an operating temperature range of -4F +104F -20C~+40C.

The Spectra-LED 120w Light System produces much better results through every stage of plant growth, from vegetative to flowering to harvest. It features an 2.5' x 2.5' coverage area, 1.8'x 1.5' core saturation, and delivers over 95% of absorbable light to the plant.

The Spectra-LED Light System has no thermal footprint and, considering 95% of the light emitted from an HID lamp is wasted in the form of non-absorbable light waves and heat energy, is 80% more efficient than Metal Halide or HPS lamps.

Efficiency does not stop here, though. You benefit even further with having no bulbs to replace and no maintenance over its 50,000 hour life cycle. No additional cooling equipment is required as the Spectra-LED Light System boasts built-in cooling fans. With no bulbs to potentially explode or burn plants, this system is safe to operate. Further, it's environmentally safe, containing no hazardous materials, and is CE and ROHS compliant."

This all came from the 420 magazine website in irish boys grow journal, "land of clovers" around page 49 I think.

Turns out your lamp is all 3w with exception of 3 wave lengths that are available in 2w only. As hollywood stated before.

But sorry I don't have link to site directly, but pretty easy to navigate that site.

He shows pictures of the new led layout so you wil be able to compare. Great lights though

Ok, I"m onboard now. I've got the 2011 Model 150, apparently I'm either going to the wrong webpage or it's not been updated yet. It's a great light, I'm still ordering 2 or 3 more for my 36" by 36" scrog grow. so that would be 600 watt LED in a 36x36 grow space--overkill?

two 240w units would have covered that fine with 480 in a 36x36 sog. It would be a lot cheaper up front and in monthly cost and I imagine should still be plenty of light (each one has a core saturation area of 24x24). Or maybe get a 240w and another 150w? Or a bunch of little ones.

True, and I did consider that route, but I've already got a 126 watt penetrator that has the same sized casing as Mike's 240 watt unit and I have a 120 watt Tri-band (circa 2009) Doberman Growl with the identical casing to the 150 watt unit. I enjoy the versatility & flexibility the smaller form factor gives me. I confess I'm not the most disciplined grower, I don't keep a log, stick to the forgiveness of dirt farming etc etc. So I always wind up with a lopsided grow, one side higher than the other, I can move these smaller lights around a with a single arm (cyclist with typical shoulder injuries) keeping the lights optimum distance 7"-12" from the buds. I'm thinking 3 should be sufficient-their core saturation area's equal 9 sq ft.

You know, I'm not really seeing a lot of orange hairs on this crop and come Saturday it'll be day 63, my friend and I checked the Trichs through my 60x microscope, they're all clear, maybe a few cloudy. Isn't this abnormally long?

If temps ran 5 degrees or more lower than your past grows the longer flower period is typical. That has been my experience with 2 previous grows where my temps were in the 65 to 70 degree range with LEDs. Most of the delay was at the beginning of flowering.

I actually ran my temps a lot warmer than that, 82-92 degrees, but averaged more accurately to 82-84 except I've allowed temps to come down in the past couple weeks to the high 70's, I've got a USB temp probe connected to my mac that monitors & logs the soil temps, they've ranged 71-75 which I read was optimum for bacterial life in the soil which makes nutrients available to the plants. They were vegged for 6 weeks and seemed to thrive, this is after all a mystery strain 2 of the "20 Free Seeds with every order". If I had to guess, smells really similiar to bubblicious, very fruity, sweet smelling.

got a few leaves yellowed and withered on the main colas. I've pre-harvested a few small branches, today & yesterday that had about 10-20% orange hairs on them, no amber trichs, just a few cloudy but most are clear. Sure is a slow finishing strain, they were some of the free seeds from the Amsterdam seed bank, guess this explains that. They do really smell good though, and have been resinating fairly heavy since this past weekend. The buds have bulked dramatically on the 3 main colas since I added the 150 watt LED from growledhydro

Did those plants naturally grow without branching out or did something happen?*(you trim or leaves die?). They look to have grown very vertically and hardly horizontally, I'm just curious

Oh that's all one plant, topped it back in veg, would have 4 colas there if one of my cats hadn't pulled it down 2 weeks into flowering, I was able to save it, albeit it never really recovered and is still just a small branch off to the side with a smaller though thick little cola. Damned cats, they've got access to the backyard where they got plenty of grass and they get plenty of organic nip, still got to get into Daddy's weed whenever they get a chance.
