Mixing autos and regs in grow room

So I am working with a 1.5ft deep x 4.5ft wide x 4.5 ft tall area(my closet). This is my first grow so I was thinking of grabbing some auto's and grabbing some feminized regs, growing both and seeing which I like better or would like to continue. I was wondering if it would be okay to grow them both in the same area or would the regs steal too much light from the auto's?
Some extra info: working with about 6 CFLs for lighting
regs I am thinking of white widow and auto's looking at speedy gonzales.

Don't get autoflowering for your first grow. They go by life span and if you stunt them you can't really veg them longer. If you fuck up on a regular you can just veg it a little longer to make up for stunted growth or whatever.

Edit: Also you can't clone an auto. Better to get a normal pack of feminized and keep one for a mother and grow the other seeds all the way through.

Yes, you can grow autos and photos together in the same space. I have 4 photos in my tent with 6 autos right now....all started under 24/0 T5HO and moved to 12/12 hps to finish. Been doing it several seasons now...no probs....but I suggest you get more than cfl lighting to realize the true potential of each.
That being said...........I prefer autos....been staggering my harvest of various strains of autos for years now.....

Never really thought of it like that but that is definitely a good point. To make up for the non-cloning problems of autos was going to pick up some non-feminized and separate a male to collect pollen from.
The problem is that I am home for about 11 weeks and then leave for 1-2 weeks, then home for 11 weeks etc. so it would be hard for me to keep a mother clone aside from letting someone take care of it while I'm gone (A big no no).

Still learning but T5HO is a type of fluorescent right? Would I significant difference in yield and quality if I switched to hps when I move to 12/12? I still have to learn more about hps as I have been focusing my reading on CFLs because I am cost conservative. One of the reasons was leaning towards auto was to eventually stagger, say one plant ready to harvest every two weeks or so.
Hypothetically having 1-2 photos and 2-4 autos would require 400 watts or so right? And that is just one bulb, would I need multiple hps?
Also how do you arrange your photos and autos? Would I be better keeping photos on one side and autos on the other or just mixing them up?
Sorry for all the questions haha

For a first grow if you don't want to put too much money into it you could very easily get some auto seeds and use either a few CFLs or a small HPS (150/250w) and be set. With the time frame you have autos might be a better bet anyway since you could get a full grow in each time you are home and not have to worry about plants having to fend for themselves for two weeks. There are automatic watering systems you could look into but for your first time through some autos would probably be easier. And while yes they do stunt easy, they are easier to learn with for a first time grower IMHO.

First grow shouldbe bag seed. You'll have soooo much to pick up on with the first grow. Experiment on freebies first and save the good seeds.

Bag seed is nice in that it's essentially free, but then you have no idea what you're getting as far as the plant goes. He said he has 11 weeks at a time to grow, he'd be hard pressed to get a bag seed plant done from seed to harvest in 11 weeks I feel like.

I've thought about bag seed, especially since I used to have like a 5th of a ziplock bag full of seeds(I lost it). But I figure if I am going to go through all this and grow I want to grow a type of weed that I enjoy and to be honest it will be cool to have something that noone else around where I am, that I know anyway, has.

Edit: Decided to pick up Flash Seeds Speedy Gonzales and came with a free photo seed, will be starting a journal soon.

Sounds good, attach a link to your journal when you start up so we can follow your grow.

I label my plants...too many to keep up with otherwise and yes, They're just all mixed together in the tent.....rotate'em daily..... I have'em under 400w+100w hps. Of course with hps comes a requirement to ventilate for heat control. T5HO is a great flourescent for vegging..very little heat that can be controlled by moving ambient air.....been using it to start all my stuff for over a year, 24/0....

I really like the idea of rotating them around periodically.

It was Venus Flytrap, buy 1 get 1 free. I almost pulled the trigger but I had just bought the weekend before with Blackberry. Running out of room........
Haha I was looking around at seeds and I wanted to buy every single one on the site.
