Don't get autoflowering for your first grow. They go by life span and if you stunt them you can't really veg them longer. If you fuck up on a regular you can just veg it a little longer to make up for stunted growth or whatever.
Edit: Also you can't clone an auto. Better to get a normal pack of feminized and keep one for a mother and grow the other seeds all the way through.
Never really thought of it like that but that is definitely a good point. To make up for the non-cloning problems of autos was going to pick up some non-feminized and separate a male to collect pollen from.
The problem is that I am home for about 11 weeks and then leave for 1-2 weeks, then home for 11 weeks etc. so it would be hard for me to keep a mother clone aside from letting someone take care of it while I'm gone (A big no no).
Yes, you can grow autos and photos together in the same space. I have 4 photos in my tent with 6 autos right now....all started under 24/0 T5HO and moved to 12/12 hps to finish. Been doing it several seasons now...no probs....but I suggest you get more than cfl lighting to realize the true potential of each.
That being said...........I prefer autos....been staggering my harvest of various strains of autos for years now....
Still learning but T5HO is a type of fluorescent right? Would I significant difference in yield and quality if I switched to hps when I move to 12/12? I still have to learn more about hps as I have been focusing my reading on CFLs because I am cost conservative. One of the reasons was leaning towards auto was to eventually stagger, say one plant ready to harvest every two weeks or so.
Hypothetically having 1-2 photos and 2-4 autos would require 400 watts or so right? And that is just one bulb, would I need multiple hps?
Also how do you arrange your photos and autos? Would I be better keeping photos on one side and autos on the other or just mixing them up?
Sorry for all the questions haha
