So I had to clean my hydrotron and after reading the posts here I decided to toss it all into a mesh bag and into the washing machine. Came out nice and clean and all the little stuff is gone so won't plug stuff up.

So do you own a shop or something....you always have so much dif. stuff...like the cloners....the nutes....just curious!!
I wish, no shop or anything~ I actually live in the middle of nowhere in NM, I think NewGrowth has a shop though,
(hey NG wanna donate some stuff for a contest:D) LMAO

Player move right there!
Hey woodsmaneh what pump did you get with your system, alita or pondmaster?

It's a shame cch2o doesn't offer the ecoplus line of commercial air pumps. I use several of the EcoPlus Commercial Air 3 and they're awesome. You can run a line off the intake. I have my pump located in my room, but the air for the intake actually comes from outside. I haven't seen any other air pumps that let you run a line for the intake. Since the air is so cold outside, my pumps actually provide significant cooling for my system. If you test the temp over an air stone it is about 3 degrees cooler than not over an air stone.

As you cats know I like to share both sides of the coin, so I asked Dan what he thought about the hot air some of these pumps are pushing and he said the following....
(btw I think they originally came with ecoplus pumps.)

Dan~
"Plain and simple.....The net benefit of using these high efficiency linear air pumps out weigh the warmth that the pumps influence the water. By using this type of pump to provoke turbulence, the UC is able to get the highest efficiency from the nutrient solution, as well as the very highest quality meds and veggies. There are a few key elements that make this heat less of an issue.

1) The heat in the gases being delivered quickly dissipates back into the ambient air in the grow environment while the gas traveling to the mods through the clear air line. If you pick up the air stone in the module and hold it in your hand you'll notice the gases passing through it to be cool, not warm. This is thanks to the heat exchange that happens on this trip the air takes through the grow room.

2) The atmospheric gases that pass through the pump, via the stones/diffuser actually move through the water and back into the atmosphere pretty rapidly. As has been previously pointed out the gas exchange from water to air is provided mainly at the point where the surface tension is broken....allowing the H2) molecule to pick up free O2. Because the gas passes through the water so quickly. Ambient temps in your room have more of a bearing on your res temps.

3) Any heat being held in the solution itself is quickly exchanged back into the room through the water surface and at return tee diffuser on epi. If you have a room with a temp of 80, your solution temp will be +1 or -1 degree off that temp 95%+ of the time, especially given the aerating going on which lend towards evaporative cooling at the surface of the water....where the heat is exchanged.

4) Modern chillers are a very efficient way offset energy loads being put into solution. As with many of the tools in the grow room, a chiller enhances your ability to control the environment for the plant...in this case, it's the root zone. If you can dial in all your co factors to gets plants thriving CO2, Temp, Hum., EC, pH, Water Temp, photo period.....that's where it's at.

5) The methods we promote, including the use of an air pump, chillers, etc.is currently redefining what the quality of water culture meds and veggies is. In my opinion it's well worth the use of these tools if the final result is as good as what the UC kicks out when operated properly. In the past, DWC was dissed by herb connoisseurs, now it's coveted....the UC and the methods and techniques we promote and encourage are making it happen."

I also asked Dan.
On the cch20 website it says, "The system operates well anywhere from 65-80 degrees F. We recommend maintaining a temperature between 68-72 degrees F."
How many users are killing it without a water chiller rocking 80 degree water, would you actually say this is an accuarete statment, that "the system operates well anywhere from 65-80 degrees"?

Dan~
"Mineral only nutes and we've seen healthy roots growing in 90+ F degree water. Would I recommend it, hell no....but plant roots don't lie. Over the last 8+ years we've dispelled a variety of water culture folk lore. The devils always in the details, that's where we derive our insight is via our experiences....as well as being the hub for what is currently working and practiced.

Wouldn't recommend 80F for medi growers.....65-70F, for growing veggies and flowers most plants do fine up to 80F, How do we know this?....years of growing and making it happen, there's no substitute."

On a side note I wonder how many people buy this system to grow daisy's and tulips

Hi DST, you PM was full those cool tubes are pretty awesome. I had a 6" one myself, they often break during shipping so a lot
suppliers stopped carrying them. It probably would not be very cost effective for the supplier to have it shipped to me and then send it overseas where chances are it will break in transit. I will look through my supplier contact info for you and give you the contact info for them. Direct shipping from the manufacturer is your best bet for these.
Google 'EcoEnterprises hydroponic wholesale' these guys are one of the last to carry the big cool tubes. Good luck let me lnow if you need more help with your search!

Aw thanks NewGrowth, much respect for the reply. I have emptied the inbox of gash now, lol.

I have seen the 150/6inch ones over here but ideally the 8inchers would be the business. I have 3 cool tubes in a vertical tower now, but my space is only 1.2m squared, 4 foot squared roughly I guess, and the cool tube I have are the 5 inch ones, and they still get a little bit too hot. I am just being anal, but hey, we all strive for the perfection in our set ups.

I will enquire with these people and let you know what the deal is.

Again, much respect,

DST

oh, and here are my tubes at the min...soz for the thread hijack Medi.

nice vid, Bobby was over at my journal a while back when he was setting things up, I never did get the chance to see the end thing, but had a few run up shots. Looks real cool indeed. I wonder how he got on when the roots where in there...makes me want to do something like that in my cab....I do like my organic grow though.

What up dst. you probably know of bobby smith. he does some interesting stuff check out this vid, if you havnt seen it. he posts up pretty much everywhere, here included.
