General Organics

I've heard a lot of good things about it, I don't know anyone who uses the full line, but I know many who supplement with the BioThrive Grow and BioThrive Bloom and love it.
 
I use the entire line, although I've only run it through 1 full cycle. Can't say that I absolutely love it, but I don't mind the product line. I did have an interesting experience with it today, however. Yesterday when watering the girls, I opened my bottle of Diamond Black, which is their humic acid additive. When I took off the cap, there was what appeared to be mold around the rim of the bottle. It looked like someone took a piece of a cotton swab and swirled it around the inside of the bottle neck.

So I took the bottle in to my grow shop today, as I needed to pick up a few things. I asked the guy about it, and he said it was mold. He also said that he's had a few other people with the same complaint and that it's no big deal. He said because its organic, it is susceptible to those types of things. He said to just wipe it away and forgot about it.

Has anyone experienced mold (or anything similar) using organic fertilizers? It freaks me out, and I'm not cool with "just wiping away the mold" and then using that product to feed something that I will later ingest! For what it's worth, I've only had the bottle for 3 months and have stored it properly....

Any ideas? Thoughts?
 
i use grow, bloom, bio-bud and cal/mag, and i like it a lot. dont feel the need for the others in the line cause i feel like i have it covered in my mix.
 
I'm using them currently, and have one finished grow using it. I had great finished quality, and very few issues other than some micronute def's (easily fixed w/ EJ Microblast), though the yield was a bit less than what I can achieve using a chem line. There is a learning curve with all organics, much less a complete line of products. The grow I have going now, which is about three weeks from harvest, is looking phenomenal. Both quality and yield should be outstanding. I should mention that I've been supplementing with Hydroplex and Cal/Mag+ from Botanicare, both at half strength.

I really think I'm starting to like the Bio Bud quite a bit, I'm going to run a couple of control plants and take away the Bio Bud next run and see how they fare. Overall I give it two thumbs up.

Also, I don't use the GO Cal mag because I don't like what it does to pH, so I use Botanicare instead.
 
hey this is just the thrad i was gonna start!
I went into my hydro shop today and the guy told me about GO and showed me accouple of there products, they seemed good and i was looking for something commercial to boost my plants so i dont have to rely 100% on my soil mix. My soil will have guanos, worm castings, blood and bone meal, peat, maybe some sand, im hoping the soil will do most of the work for the plants but want something to add in the water to give the plants a boost. What products would you guys recomend since I dont really want to use the whole line maybe just 2 or 3 bottles total for veg and bloom. what do you recomend?
 
Thanks Wolverine and Bucket of Nugz lol, and yeah i was thinking about adding dolomite because i see it on everyones soil mixes, what about bone meal would that also help for calcium? +rep
 
I use the entire GO line, my first run the yield was pretty small and I had some def. probs throughout but I am getting it down pretty well. The Aroma and appearance are fantastic and my yield is way up. This is my third run using it, Yield is still short of the plants I run with Technaflora but its catching up slowly but surely.

these are a few Red Dragon colas i grew with the GO line....impressive yield....first run with GO......Nugs
 
I just put 6 Cheese clones into veg 4 days ago using this complete line of nutes and happyfrog potting mix. i also top dressed with earthworm castings. Anxious to see what this stuff does. Its my first grow so i have nothing to compare it to, i just wanted to lean a little closer to the organic side. think ima add humbolt big up in flower. and other recomendations on additives? stop buy and check my grow journal.

The BioThrive Gro smells the worst then BioMarine
 
im excited to hear this i recently purchased biomarine /thrive grow and bloom and a buddy mentioned that he had the whole line unopened that i could purchase for cheeeep! will be using the full GO line .. hopefully will pick up the stuff 2day and will chek into the mold situation on the diamond black..
 
I am using this line and so far, so good. Working well with all my vegetables too. It was recommended by the local hydro store and they discounted the GO box down to $15, so I figured why not. 8)
 
I'm starting the GO line up and I was wonderingif you fed every time you watered or did you do feed, water, feed, water, ect.? Also I started with 1/2 strength from what the chart says, when should I start the full strength? Thanks alot , jethead

I only feed once a week which ends up being every 2nd or 3rd water. Starting out with 1/2 strength is good for the first time you feed just so you know they can take it (especially if they are young and from seed). Try full strength once they really get going. If they start showing signs of nute burn, flush them with ph'd water.

Thanks goblyn, I just picked up some clones last week and fed 1/2 strength today. My grow store guy told me he did feed, water, water, Feed, ect. so that's about the same as you do. I just wanted a 2nd opinion. Totally appreciated.

The mold probably is harmless. Can't say much in the way of Diamond Black in particular, never used it, but there is another humic acid supplement from Botanicare I use from time to time, Humega (formerly Humex), which is labeled as a 'Soil Conditioner' that contains humic acid but is actually a liquid humus or essentially microbes in a bottle.

Humic acid is a preferred fungi food, and when it comes down to it that is precisely what organics is about: bacteria, fungus, and the other organisms that cycle the nutrients contained within them (nematodes and protozoa).

The only GO product I use is Alaskan Forest Humus and it is wonderful. It's like a soil food web in a bag.
