Importance of curing.. I can't express it enough.

if you were expecting pictures.. sorry for the let-down. the camera that I bought clearly stated on the box that it had 10x zoom with macro mode.. well, once I got home with it.. I went into the menu on the camera.. and sure enough I couldn't find the macro setting. Long story short.. I searched Google for my camera model.. and I'll be damned if it DOES NOT have a macro setting.. therefore my closeup shots are total shit. I mean I can zoom in.. but its going to come out blurry as a 60year old drunks eyeballs on a Friday night.

anyhow.. I just wanted to share the importance of curing to those who don't understand the importance of it.

I've done both.. I've cured and not cured before.. and the difference is astonishing! Take for instance.. my mids plant that I just finished harvesting 2 weeks ago. The buds were air dried for 3 days. After the 3 days.. I checked on them and they seemed to have mainly only moisture in the middle stem.. where the bud would bend.. but it would spring back at a medium rate of speed. This is where I want all my buds.. before I start curing. The moisture in the middle stem.. thats left behind from drying.. is the moisture the buds will use/need to properly cure.

Anyhow, after only 1.7 weeks of curing.. these things already taste absolutely sweet. They have a beautiful taste.. not much on the smell just yet.. the smell is pretty much neutral which tells me something very important.. this tells me that most of if not possibly all of.. the chlorophyll has evaporated. But the taste has already changed significantly.. really hard to describe.. but the smoke is no longer hard on the throat.. ahh its just nice.

This also just goes to show.. that when you grow your own product.. the ending taste/smell of the product is going to be 10x as better as some commercially grown herb.

So, if your not growing your own yet.. get too it!!! You've no idea what your missing.. I mean the difference between what I grew.. and what it tasted like when I bought it.. is just astounding.

Anyhow, just wanted to share that with everyone. Just trying to help educate..

peace.

ive cured in bags before.. like the big ziplock ones.. works better in u have the ones with the big slider zipper thing.. to make sure no air gets in. sumtimes.. i feel like using the bags helps release the moisture trapped in the stem better than jars do... but you have to be careful using the bags.. because if you leave them in there too long.... without opening it every so often to let out all the "condensated air" or w.e. u wanna call it. lol. (basically wen it cures the air thats trapped in the bag/jar is full of moisture.. adn will create mold VERY quickly) you can lose your buds to mold... trust me ive done it. and yes u can cure in plastic jars too... as long as its air tight.. u can cure in almost anything. =)

and i do agree with hime about how important it is to cure.. it makes a BIG difference... if ur rushed. or dont have much time... even curing for a few day - a week will make a big difference. u dont always need a month or 2 for curing..

oo yeaa. wanted to ask u... do u have any pics of the "mids" plant u harvested?? i have a bunch of mids seeds.... from some pretty decent mids.. and ive always heard if u plant them.. adn take care of them.. they can turn out really really good. adn the only reason the bud wasnt good in the 1st plance is because whoever grew them didnt take care of them... adn i would just like ot see wat they look like. thanksss

Bummer about the camera, hopefully you can return?

I wish I could return it.. however the store told me that all sales are final. She even offered to swap the camera out.. for another one. Only thing is.. is she told me I would have to get the same exact camera.. wtf?!?!?! I don't think she understood my problem..

I thought about sending it back along with a note, explaining how badly this camera sucks.. and telling them where they can put it (if you know what I mean..)

its called false advertising!!! I should sue Vivitar! fuckers.. :|

If you use a plastic container make SURE it has "NSF" stamped on it. That is a food safety committee and this stamp ensures no plastics will leak into the product stored. Downside of plastic is its hard to scrape all the trichs stuck to the side.

glass jars are nice way to go.. square ones like mason jars or old spagetti sauce ones. I leave on side and shake a bit and either have cap off or on till cure is finished.. they stay in a wooden drawer so they get air but no light. I do dry them either string, ( in the dark), or lay it on bottom of drawer w/o the glass jars for 3 days.. 14 days min from picking but 21 days is when its real sweet!

Glass is best. If you MUST cure in a bag, use something airtight. Ziplock type plastic baggies are usually not. Try turkey bags.

Lol, notice the question in parenthesis? It was mostly for other people reading it, thanks for the response though. Noone should cure in plastic. Glass is best option.

I think a note on the camera with some choice words would work quite nicely! Lol. Why would you want to trade for the same camera? She may have been a little drunk..

And yes, take some photos with that nifty camera. Bagseed are always fun to grow out.
