Hottest Pepper In The World "Naga Jolokia" (Grown in Hydro)

Since this seems to be the chilli thread! Ive got a question, my windows sill soil dwarf cajennes' are starting to get quite purple stems, its this them wanting a feed as they are starting to get quite alot of flower set, or is it more likely a day/night temp fluctuation? Theres about 20 flowers forming on each plant, I would hate to see them drop off. They are about 40cm tall

Yeah he crossed a naga jalokia with something equally as hot, i think its called a naga viper. its only hotter by 100 or so on the scoville, where as naga jalokia is at like 1,000,000+ somethin

day 34 - transplant

made up a trial run of the NFT system out of 3" pvc.







so 7 went into an NFT type system with a steady stream of nutrients. i followed GH feeding instructions on the bottle. added a bit of h2o2 a dash of epsom salt and a bit more bioRoot. 5 remain in a DWC system with the same nutreint solution approx 987ppm and ph 6.0

about 6 x 26w CFLs and a 250w hps lighting them up on an 18/6

i plan on it, theres no way ill be able to consume more than like a handful all summer long. theres a spice and salsa store down the road that makes their own salsa and hot sauces. they might by some too, the can only get the dried peppers. imma try to hustle the shit out of these peppers, hehe

Day 45? 46?

so i have some terrible news, i believe i transfered them to the NFT a little prematurely. 4 of 7 went from looking good to dead in a matter of a few days. i dont think the root mass handled the switch too well. 2 didn't do so bad but i think the 5 that stayed in the bubbler did much better.



versus



the bubbler plants finally took on some height in the last few days, i think they like a lower water level. i think im gonna keep them bubbling till they out grow my container.



the plant in the net pot was a survivor from the NFT, it started losing some leaves, i would find it all wilted and mist it with a s[ray bottle, it would revive and wilt again, any hydro-pros out there with some thoughts?

well, everything i put in soil struggles and eventually dies. and im doing pret-ty good with my ladies in a bubbler system soooo, i think im gonna stick with it. so far the bubbler plants are doing reeally well. the NFT was an experiment gone sour. may try ebb & flow next. found a nice flat wide heavy duty tote at homedepot for 15$. i have to read into it a bit more though. do you just set a net pot in the tray and roll with that. or do you fill the tray with the medium and flood the medium?

Edit: heres my ladies, g13 haze and northern lights. under a 400w scrog method. flowering for close to 40 days




the last picture is the g13haze from barneys seeds, its so sticky and sparkley.

well ive been letting the res run low on the bubbler in order to give the roots more oxygen, seems to be working great. NFT not so much




and the NFT the leaves are much lighter, they are smaller than the others as well.

With my experience with Bhut Jokokia, they are very difficult to grow outdoors. They are so temperamental and require pretty consistent climates to succeed. Their looking good though!

if thats the case then i wont have much luck here, our summers are very sparatic here in noo york

60 Days

well the plants in the NFT system have had a very tough life, as you can tell they are still gettin along, but barely. i may try to keep them in soil and see what happens.



i had time to transplant one of the thriving plants in its own 5g bubbler bucket with a 6" netpot.
hopefully i can find time to move the rest and re-organize my system. as i am still experimenting and exploring new methods i have accumalated tons of crap and need to clean up the ol' grow room.





I have been using a similar nutrient mix as i give my ladies. something like a 3-2-1 mix of grow, micro, bloom. i ran accross a thread for hydro-habaneros, they were using a ratio more like 0-1-2 (g,m,b) of the GH flora line. so i may try to migrate more towards that. i guess peppers need more PK as they grow for better flowering and fruiting.



and lastly the one plant i added real late to the NFT is doing quite well, though i think i might ditch NFT for now and stick with the Bubblers, so simple and the results have been nothing but great.



well its been about 2 monthes since seed and i can finally say that im seeing some rapid growth now. can't wait to see some flowers.

Any idea when they flower? You have to change the photoperiod or do they just go?

im told they are not photoperiod sensitive so you just let them go. ive had them at 18/6 this whole time. i do not have a clue when they flower. im told they can takeup to 6 monthes in soil. i've heard of people getting flowers 3 monthes in hydro, so i dont know.
