what's the difference between regular seeds and feminized seeds?

im a rookie to all this marijuana growing thing i wanna grow a nice plant but i dont get why female seeds cost more then regular seeds..is it because females make more plants and seeds? another thing is what does it mean "auto". is it that the plant is going to grow small like a dwarf. hope you guys can really help me out!

You may want to pick up a book and do some reading, feminized mean when "sexing" comes around (inspecting to see if the plant is male or female), it will always be female. Female's produce bud, Males don't. They will usually cost more for less, but usually worth the investment.

regular seeds will produce eiither male or females, feminised seeds (should) only provide females, you want female plants for having bud to smoke and males for breeding with.
as for the auto thing... there are 2 main types of cannabis, photoperiod and autoflowering, photoperiod plants will not start flowering until you lower the amount of daylight hours to about 12 on then 12 off, autoflowering plants will start flowering at a pre-determined point in there life without having to change the amount of hours of light they receive

Feminized seeds are an offspring of a hermie and a female so the seeds should grow into females and in some rare cases (like mine ;D) can show the hermie trait because of the predisposition to hermaphroditism. Regular seeds are either males or females, you never know until you hit flowering so you will most likely have to expect that some of the plants will have to be trashed as you dont want to smoke males (almost no THC content) or leave them to pollinate the remaining females and so depreciate the quality of your bud.

so i should just buy female seeds to grow first then when im ready to mate the girl plants i should get regular seeds (male)

female plants produce buds males do not, if you have males and females at the same time you get seeds but very little bud so you only want female plants if your growing to smoke, the only time you want male plants is if you wants seed, auto means the flower auto into budding regardless of light they are small because they dont veg for long. go and look around the site you have got alot to learn my friend

Yup. Basically you might as well stick with feminized until you want to breed or produce your own seeds. Especially as a beginner you want to make sure you don't waste much of your first crop to males, although you could get luck and get more females than male seeds (my first grow was 3 bagseed and they were all female). Autos are cool because they generally stay quite small (most under 2-3 feet tall) and you can give them however much light you want in veg and flower.

In the future I plan to switch to autos so I don't have to worry about light leaks while I'm awake and plants are asleep during flowering (as autos can flower on 18/6 so I can just sleep when they do and they still flower! I really like the idea of being able to go 18/6 from seed to harvest :P They may not be as cost effective for yield per seed but they are much better for SOG and perpetual harvests. You can always keep your grow space on 18/6 and put in new autos each week or 2 and you will always have some plants vegging and some flowering in the same room!
