More Freedom Loving Lefties On The March

jeff f, how do you explain the explosion in child and teen obesity? You figure that parents just, for some odd reason quit feeding their children correctly? What happened? and how would YOU correct it?

is your kid fat? dont give him soda....

what else you wanna know?

or maybe i should ask you who is much smarter than me , and all the rest of the dumb americans.....

OK so sugar is very addictive and its pretty safe to say that 99+ percent of the kids that fall into the obese catagory are sugar addicts.
The end result of obesity is you is die a horribly slow death and become a massive leaching tumor to society by means of medical and lost opportunity costs.
Should children (not legal adults) be allowed to buy sugar at school?

Now Im going to repeat the last paragraph and replace the word sugar or obese with heroin or heroin addict

MAybe heroin was to harsh, I should have used alcohol.

Children do not have the same constitutional right as adults. Children can't by cigarettes and booze for a reason. I would love to hear someone argue for a childs constitutional right to smoke and drink

seriously? this is your argument?

news flash, we all die slow horrible deaths no matter what we eat. what does that have to do with what i give my kid for his lunch?

further, are you saying that adults in boston shouldnt be allowed to buy, consume, sugar? cuz thats what the mayor said.

boy, for a bunch of guys who want to smoke pot, WHICH IS MADE ILLEGAL CUZ IT KILLS PEOPLE....

maybe we should start bombing all the sugar producers to keep our kids safe. lock those bastards up and throw away the key.

the war on drugs is such a good, succesful program, lets start a war on sugar. then at least we would all have jobs as the sugar police. maybe we could get cool candycane colored uniforms......fucking stoners.

my grandmother used to make these cool little lollipops for us kids. she was the devil....

dont forget that god awful holiday called halloween. we could dress up and go out and get bottled water in our little pumpkin containers....

we should go house to house in poor communities, where all the fat people live, and go through their cabinets to make sure they have no sugar treats.....

Wow you can't bring your own lunch and have to eat what you are told. I guess it's good to start grooming them early to have their freedoms removed

I don't believe there is an age provision in the Constitution. The reason children cannot buy tobacco or alcohol is because the states have outlawed it.

No, my kid's not fat. I sure wouldn't like it if his preschool (he's 4) offered him the choice of cake and ice cream for snack every day instead of the cheese and crackers, fruit, carrot sticks, etc. that he gets now. I may be able to convince him that he's not allowed to at this point (even though a bunch of his friends are). But when he's 12 yrs. old and really wanting to show his independence, and is getting into rebelling... probably not much chance. Seems like common sense to not put a bunch of obviously bad choices in front of kids. Schools never should have started selling that shit.

You are the one missing the point my friend. ;) Are you insinuating that if we did not have an age restriction on the sale of alcohol that teenagers wouldn't drink? That is exactly what you are insinuating. This has nothing to do with liberalism or conservatism.... if you tried to fit it in a political vacuum, you'd have to choose conservative anyway, because progressives wouldn't ban certain foods.... you just like to label anyone you disagree with as a liberal. Go look up the definitions....

Maybe we should make under age drinking a crime. That will stop teenage drinking. Let's outlaw obessity, and fatty food, and spandex, after all, these cost all of us.....

you lib do gooders still don't get it.

Please show me where in the constitution there is a guarantee of the freedom to eat high sugary foods in public school? I'm on your side once you do...

And why is that? certainly you can use your intelligence to conjure up a good reason....

Wrong answer.... cigarettes and alcohol sales to minors are outlawed for their own good because developing young minds aren't responsible enough to make decisions to use such dangerous drugs, like alcohol and all the crap in cigarettes. Yes, it is a state issue, but that is not why the laws exist...

What are implying?
OK, I'll bite. It's because it's because it is not a federal issue, if it is not a federal issue then it is a state issue.

Sure, there were a few, but that is the point, there were a FEW. Want figures or can I just urge you to just look around? You don't really believe that things are the same as in 1850 do you? Realy?
So you concede the argument, thank you. At least Canndo and I can agree that junk food does not make kids fat. At least one person has a clue.

99% of fat kids are Sugar Addicts eh? I think you are 100% wrong, got any data to back up that claim?

Then what does make kids fat? Certainly not fruit and vegetables..... junk food is a contributor to obesity, not the sole cause of it.

Look, if they want to remove the vending machines that sell it, that is one thing. Mandating that they eat the shitty cafeteria food or nothing is another.

You don't even know what the US Constitution is, do you? Not one single right is enumerated in the Constitution, your rights do not come from the constitution. There is no guarantee of anything.

What makes kids fat? Thats an easy question. Eating more calories than one expends is what makes you fat. You can get fat eating fruits and vegetables. FTW

The Bill of Rights is an amendment to what? who doesn't know the constitution? ROFL..... please....
