Drying Boxes??? Anyone have one??? Lacy:)

My hubby wants me to ask you guys and gals if any of you have a dry box of any kind and if so what you think of them?

What are the advantages?
Are they worth it?
Do they really work?

I could see a lot of advantages of a drying box especially if you have a lot of bud to dry. It would eliminate a lot of possible mold etc, save time, lessen the odour etc.

Whatcha think of them?

So far i have never had any probs with using a cardboard box to be honest.
If the buds are huge and you fear mould then add a packet of silica gel or a disposable dehumidifier.
I always let the soil dry right out before i chop them down so molds never an issue for me anyway.

The best reason i can see for a drying box is speed and the lack of smell.
All the ones i have seen on youtube and pot-tv look good though and i haven't heard anyone complain about them so far.

If you have a lot of weed to dry then they will definitely be useful

Yes normally I would let my plants dry right out thoroughly before cutting themn down but last year I had 3 weeks of rain before I chopped mine down. Not the best harvesting weather so some of my bud got bud rot and I had to throw it out.

Hubby is worried I am going to be doing the same thing but these are all indoor plants so it is completely different. I normally dry mine in a cardboard box as well shake the box up a few times a day for about 10 days.

yes, johnnyblunt88 and his supercloset uses one..... and i also have a friend (offline) that uses one. im not sure where johnny bought his from, but my friend bought theirs from

I think something like a drying box would be idea especially if you have different type of buds growing. I always manage to mix mine up while I have it either hanging or in boxes. And then i don't have a clue what is what.

I am learning so much here from all of you.

I just built myself a dryer box about 2 days ago. Used a rubber-maid bin, kinda like that tutorial that was posted above. Went slightly cheaper on the parts though, and In my opinion, works perfectly. I made a cheap carbon scrubber with a RadioShack project fan, some 4" heating duct, a 2L Soda bottle, and 8ounces of activated carbon., strapped it to the outside and piped the ducting through a hole I made in the side of the unit. Took a clothes hanger, straightened it and ran it across the inside top of the bin as a hanging wire for the bud branches. Then drilled some holes in the side of the unit opposite the ducting hole. Basically the fresh air is sucked through the small holes on the side, passes over/though the hanging buds in the middle, and is sucked through the ducting into my home-made filter, removing any and all smell.

In my opinion (although this has been my first grow and first drying attempt) a drying box is excellent if you wish to speed up the drying process without risking too much damage to the potency of the bud.

I've had some Ice buds drying in there for about a day and a half and they look like they are making excellent progress

And just to add,
I just took took out 2 ounces of perfectly dried Ice Buds from it after only 2.5 days of drying. Too bad I cant speed up the jar curing process like this one..

i have and have seen and herd may people dry buds this way.
have you been on the greenhouse seeds site and see how them guys do it.

thats the way I normally dry them. i am looking for info on dry boxes that speed up the process and eliminate any possible mold. And yes my hubby is very good in the handyman department. He's a great carpender and has exceptional mechanic skills. He's a good man otherwise I wouldn't be with him
