Ya i put a few peppers in my grow box took about 6 weeks to get my first flowers, 8 weeks i have my first pepper and she's huge!!! I've started my medusa peppers and some other red and green peppers inside also.
I purchased a few extras at TSC yesterday, thyme, oregano, rosmary, pumpkin. Fuck my list keeps growing, i already need to make a new plan

Wow broccoli and cawliflower come up fast, i decided to sow some seeds 4 days ago, they are anywhere from 1-3 inches already , even a few rogue seeds sprouted in the container, i had some jiffy pucks so i used them but i'm not sure how long to leave them like that??? i'm still a week or so away from planting.

Well my flower garden is finaly cleaned, 4 full wheel barrows of roots and crap, i think it's been a few years since the previoud tenants cleaned it lol, i also found a few mystery roots/bulbs?? no idea what they are, both are long and brown with tons of roots all over with a little nub, i should post some pics and see if anyone can identify them before i plant them.

I had my man dig out my 6x6x6x6 fire pit, oh ya she's gonna be big this year lol gotta love gettin the men to do the hard stuff mellokitty

ooo, a fire pit, i'm so jealous.
we live in an area where we *can have fires, we just have to get a permit first.

yay my natalino broccoli seeds finally came in the mail!

and yes i love gettin the man to do the *work-work... famous last words from kitty: "and you're putting my water feature where, exactly?" (man:  then )

LOL just do what my old neighbour did, we shared a pit and also lived in an area that required a permit, so she got herself all sexy and went in and spoke with thefire chief, she came home with a permit that allowed us to have a fire any time we wanted, as long as we had some kind of food near we could claim to be cooking lmfao

*pfft* with my luck the fire chief'll be some staunch, married-and-faithful or, better yet, married-and-closeted straight-edge no-fun type, lol. although we do have the cooking loophole here too, apparently.

more sprouts:
white runner beans
peas
thai basil
cilantro
stevia
marigold
feverfew

so.... i have a bunch of stuff that has *1* sprout that's just happy and deafening silence from all the others.... wth? most of the stuff kinda popped around the same time, but i have half a dozen or so (mostly herbs) that are oh so lonely.... ;)

*my okra are dying*.... wth?

out of 6 that sprouted so far, 3 have bitten it completely, one is committing harakiri as we speak, one 'undecided', and one happy 4"-er that's gonna die of loneliness if more don't sprout soon..... i'm nursing them indoors, in a semi-sunny spot by the front door. pretty sure it's not too cold 'cuz they're right in front of (but not too close to) a heater, unless maybe the gusts from the door opening and closing are too cold for them (they're a more southern plant, right?).... there's a chance it's a light thing too, it's really not been that nice out.

anybody have any okra tips? i think i'm gonna try replanting some under domes this time.....

i have never grown okra before but it doesnt sound like it is to cold and they should not die form a small cold gust of wind every so often.
heres a few ideas.
1. check to see what ph range it likes and then check the ph of water going in and the soil
2. maybe it has to do something with not enough or to much water.
3. possibly to much ferts.

this is just a few things to check, i am not saying this is what it is but it could be

thanks for the checklist:
1. very good point. although it doesn't say anything on the seed pack, and right now they're in promix hp. maybe they like it good and alkaline or something.
2. i've been giving them the same wet/dryish cycle as all the others....?
3. haven't ferted.

update: the committing slow suicide is still doing just that, the 'undecided' seems to have decided it wants to live after all, and my star player is now doing the dainty wilt.... wtf mang? i put a dome over them about an hour ago, we'll see if he comes back.....

romanesco natalino sprouts -- my 4/20 prezzie from mother earth! ;)

okra -- still dying. although they seem to be dying much more slowly now that they're under a dome.

My family has always had a vegetable garden and my Dad says that okra likes it hot temperture wise. When the summers were really hot the okra did very well. Not much of a tip but that's the extent of what I know about growing okra.

i was figuring that might be it.... the weather is doing funny stuff (it's all my fault for taking an early interest in my garden, the weatherverse just *knows*....) - it's snowed twice and hailed 4 times since i started my seeds (which almost never happens in april around here....) (<-so totally my fault.... damn murphy.)
they're right inside the front door where the temperature isn't exactly stable.... if the seeds i replanted shit the bucket too, i'm just gonna wait until it's warm enough to put them in the ground....

Hey Kitty. I nice little garden you had. I like to list of things your gonna grow this year. Yesterday was my first day of starting a garden. I chose mint since its the easy thing to grow. Feel free to check it out.

i love mint. so rarely disappoints.
be mindful of the spot you pick if you decide to put it in the ground, lol - my mom's garden has a plot of peppermint she has to beat back every year, from a rogue plant i planted there when i was a preteen (i'm in my 30s now)... oops.

I wish I had an outdoor garden to grow it in but its mostly clay around here and I don't feel like building a garden bed since I have to dig up the yard and plant new grass seeds out since the grass here now is mostly dead and I will have to lay in soil. I have been thinking maybe next year if I can get things ready I might do an out door solar DWC garden. :)

now *that sounds ambitious as hell, +reps!
I love to dream big. If I had the proper house and land I would have a very nice indoor garden year round. If no DWC outdoors I will rig some thing up to do a outdoor couple to a few herb setup. The weather here can get very hot so it will be a big hit and miss for me doing it outdoors.

Do you recommend giving my new mint plants water for the first couple watering s?

I second that lol Mint spreads like the plague lol my brother planted some a few years ago, it's everywhere in his garden, He has a garden made for monarch butterflies, his back yard is full of them in the summer.

My weather sucks too girl. My babies are all snug in my box, but the cantaloupe is getting big
