have any links?
and do you think they are better coverage than sealed hoods?
a good hood will give you the best coverage, but would be much more expensive than the cool tube. it'll be about $100 or so difference in price. since you only have a 4'x3' room i would just go with the cooltube and save the $100 or so for other stuff you'll eventually need.

just one more question, i found a 6 inch tube
do i need to get a 6 inch duct fan? cause mine is 8 inches or can i buy a reducer or does the fan have to be right against the tube or does it matter if the reducer is in between?

so does anyone think if i get a sealed hood with ventilation in the hood that will drop it down signifigantly?
if so would a inline duct fan work with that or will i need to get a vortex?
It will drop it down a lot. I grow in a 4x8 room and my vented hoods lower the temp 10 degrees.

get the 8" cooltube then. might as well get the full potential out of your system rather than add reducers and such. it would move more air more quietly using all 8" vs 6" reducers and stuff.

you want the fan as close to the exhaust port as you can get it.

here's an example of one. i didn't spend time going through them so you may be able to find a better deal, but this one is $80 for the tube with reflector, lightsocket and cord...

i think im supposed to say good luck to you, not the other way around lol.. anyways, be sure to come let us know how it works out and what your temps go down to after you get it all setup.

My first setup think I'm gonna go with sealed hood, torn between inline vs squirrel fan for exhaust (noise), gonna try passive intake.

Goal ~2x3' cab 250-400w digi ballast, sealed hood, temps just under 90 with a heat resistant strain. I mean under IDEAL conditions get it lower, but I've seen decent results with 90 degree temps on some grows, but everything else has to be done well too. My only experience is a bunch of reading on the subject, comparing lights a billion times, still not even settled on anything in stone yet actually. But I look at alot of journals. My goal for the first grow is as much light in a tight area as I can get with temps below 90 and a 'decent' light placement. I'd say about 18" if I can get it. The canopy penetration alone of HIDs makes me want to run them, even with the temp issues involved.

To me especially in a small tent/cab, I def want to go with digi ballast and sealed hood. Then as much exhaust as possible but I also want it to be stealth not like a jet engine errupting in my dresser. Also lightproof. Lofty goals indeed, especially on a budget.

do you think i still need a fan ocilating in the room at all times or is it not necessary? do i leave the duct fan hooked up only when the light goes on or at all times?

Hey man you say you got a 500cfm inline from home depot, is it direct wire unit? Also how loud is that beast?

I'll be honest I dont know much about cooled bulbs vs. sealed hoods.

I'll be honest I dont know much about cooled bulbs vs. sealed hoods.[/yes it can be hook up however you want to a switch or direct and im not shitting you at all man this is the quietest thing i ever heard i truly advise you to get it , i mean you can sleep with your head on it
if anything its a far from a beast but well see what it can do when i get my tube but as for quietness its great
