can you all see now? that sometimes a plant that is rootbound may be confused for different deficiencies. so you can end up trying to fix something that can ultimately only be fixed by giving your plant a bigger pot to grow in.

which is exactly what happened to me, and that is exactly why i started this thread.

now this could be a noob mistake, but this thread wasn't created to help people who already know about rootbound plants.

i don't think it will eliminate it, but i think it will help. pretty cool stuff though bro. once i get a little more dough ill look into buying a few of these and trying out some new experments. thanks man!

Im using them this run, shouldve done a comparison, but the plants are extremely healthy so far! Need to water a little more often, but thats to be expected I suppose.

yeah that would have been sweet, maybe next run you can get the same size pot as the airpot, and see what the differences are in growth.. and maybe how much longer it takes a plant to become rootbound in an airpot. maybe i can make my own solocup airpot lol, poking holes in the sides or something. either way, thx for the input bro, much appreciated.

Brands mean little to me, Jack's makes quite a few formulations. I'm mainly interested in NPK ratios and what's in the food, also the frequency and amount. That's all that counts. Too many growers are quick to pop off some cute Humboldt/AN name, too few have a clue about plant nutrition.

Your experiment speaks for itself, or let's put it this way, I assume it resolves what veteran growers know - that any time you increase root mass you increase production, that is if you can keep the foliage healthy and green until harvest.

Only if the ambient RH is low enough to terminate the tips. If' it's high, forget it, a fact that the airpot pimps aren't telling you. The principles of aeroponics apply here. I have gotten many a plant that had roots growing out of the drainholes 10" long, suspended in the open air while sitting on a nurseryman's hardware cloth bench, and that was with 2.5" pots called "liners".

I have mature bearing citrus trees growing in 10 gallon pots.

To end the fucking rootbound subject here it is..... A little logical fucking thinking... So rootbound does not exist eh? Well sorry to say it does... Just think of it this way..

Look out your window.... you probably see 20ft+ tall trees... Do you think you could grow that in a 5 gallon bucket? Fucking tree roots break up sidewalks and roads.... You would never grow a fucking 20 foot tall tree in a 5 gallon pot, dont care what you say... Why do you think marijuana plants get so big outside? Hmm yes because they have the sun... but also because people who grow outdoors use big ass grow pots... 50gal+... maybe thats why their plants are 10-15 feet tall...

i would say that about 95% of us wont have rootbound issues because we dont let the plants get big enough for it to be a problem.with a 4-6 wk veg and 8-9 weeks of flower it really isnt a factor if you know when and what to feed your girls.there are members on this site that grew 3 foot+ plants in a 16 oz p cup and they turned out great.yes by the end they were probably getting rootbound but at that point it had no effect on the final product.

I have been just reading and never wanted to join but you guys make me crazy.

Stat: 48 and grew in Garberville back in the days (an old dead head) and now living in South Florida having fun too. outside ladies sucking up 90+ days right now..sandy soil. Inside we have a few other issues to deal with in this humitity.
So you can see why i have not wanted to write.. we ARE NOT LEGAl ye by the state and never will be it looks like.

Any plant can get root bound. If you never transplant it and keep feeding it the RIGHT mutrients... the roots have no where else to go but they keep wanting to grow. They will keep growing till there is nothing left to obsorbe in the soil and they are waiting on you to feed them.
Once they are waitting on you and only you for food that is the start of stunting. They seem to just hang on the top of the fence... if you mess up once then the spitit you could say has been damaged.
So you can get killer meds from a rootbound plant. You keep giving it whjat it needs then it is happy.
And yes you will get less quanity.. but not to say the quality will be less.

To some other post:

Clay pots will obsorb more water because of the clay. You do have to adjust the nutrients level when you change the lighting with less heat 6 or so hours.

What works for one.. does not always work for another...

Well the roots arnt showing at all (infact Iv seen NO roots), and the plants are growing at a rate like Iv never seen, and I used to use root stimulators. When I chop this batch Ill take a photo of the rootball and post it here just to see and then Ill do a run with one plant in a regular 10L with the Airpot plants beside them. I know its a small sample, but Im not a commercial grower.

The best cuttings comes from young, rootbound plants too.

i thought my plants were getting frazzled by the biobizz allmix they were in, lower leaves were turning yelloe then purple.
i made a thread about it on here. some people were sayin it was hungry, others were sayin the ec of the allmix was too high for plants that age, others were sayin over feedin.
one dude said he grew in the allmix and that he got yellowing of the lower leaves when the plant got rootbound.

well i potted on into 5l pots the next day with john innes #3 with about 30% perlight and they look like different plants already. new growths vigorous and dark green and the yellowings stopped. before i potted on plant growth had basically stopped and leaves and petioles were drooping. they already look bigger in 24hrs.

this thread was exactly what happened to me. if i knew how to give a rep thing i would to the dude with the rootbound rabble
