Aeroponic nightmare.

Aero has more DO,
therefore it can tolerate higher solution temps up to a point.

Yield will increase with increased DO in the roots.
Keeping the temp near 66-68 is important in DWC.

DWC is still a very good way to grow if you can control the solution temp.

I grew my first aero grow with 80º solution temps,
and had fair to good success,
but my yield and speed took off,
when I added the chiller,
and got the temp down and the DO up.

I only grow DWC in the winter
when I can control the rez temps
by keeping the room at 66º.

It is harder to adapt a chiller to a DWC,
than it is for Aero.

DWC is much cheaper, simple,
and highly recommended ,
If you can control the rez temp.

That's why having a large clean basement is nice!

Earl do you think my setup would benefit from a bubbler, since the way i have it setup is esentially an aero/DWC hybrid in practice. (roots are being sprayed but most of them are touching the solution at this point)

I saw somewhere on here about using a frozen water bottle every day in the res and it also forces you to check yer grow--kinda of a good idea.

Who needs forcing to check their Grow? I keep thinking mine is stalling because it hasn't grown in the last 10 minutes.

yes, i am still in that phase where i consider moving into my grow room a few times a day.

and i have a couple under my belt. this is my first hydro experiment however, and first time ive attempted any techniques such as LST or topping

I had my room temp at 80 for a while and i almost lost the entire harvest, i was ready to give this crop up

luckily they were small when i caught it, id hate to lose a crop in the flowering phase!

Any way you can link or direct me to a chiller. i do plumbing heating and A/c so when it comes to water pumps and what not i have the skills.

i was gonna make a power cloner with a rubber made bin and a pump with 3/4 pvc piping going around the rubber made bin and drill little sprayers on the pvc. kinda like what you showed from your pics up but not coming from the top.

but like i said if you could help direct me to a chiller that would be much appreciated.

thanks roullette:weed:

I do aero too and this is the chiller I use. Hope this helps.

yeah i jumped into this one way too quickly. i think im going to take the HPS out of the room for a few weeks and lay down some nice cool floro tubes on it since they are tiny and the hps is just wasting light anyways with the seedlings being this small... and im gonna flush the res with straight RO water, maybe 1/8 nutes

i have some new clones to replace the fucked plants.. should i just ditch the plants that are pretty rotted and start over? You think running an 18/6 cycle will help let the res temp stay at a lower temp throughout the day?

Im just wondering what a cheap and simple way to keep the res nice and cool would be.. it wouldnt hurt much just to keep a lower ambient temp in the room would it?
You might try flushing with some hydrogen peroxide (H202)to help the root rot as well. And it couldn't hurt to add a air pump with a air stone in your res to oxygenate your nutes.

thanks for the link man. those things really that much loot? that one low grade or that a high grade?:weed:
wow if you think that is expensive...... you might not even want to shop around. you might have a heart attack.

i've seen chillers normally go for $500-$600 bucks

well never looked into chillers but seemed like alot.
i did save that post imma prolly get that in a few months.

but i guess for what it offers it is pretty cheap.

That is middle of the road. Keep in mind that most of these chillers have no built in pump so either you'll need to buy a pump or hope that your nute pump will push the water through the chiller.

yessir ive been treating with 1/2 cup or so every 3 days into my res.

I saw a good deal on some chillers the other day. I think im going to design something with a 50-100 gallon tote with a chiller soon

would be nice to be able to not worry about keeping the room in the 60's! My room has no problem staying 75-78 with next to no ventilation and the sun turned on so i think i could do fun things with a chilled system

geeze sounds complicated go drip w/ rockwool. One res, dont have to worrie about the res being at such a precise temp. no mixing nutes in a separete containers. I just check my res once a day PH 5.8 EC 1.2, 1.4, or 1.6. depending on what stage they are in and thats it.

Thanks

How does your house smell when the heater/air is on?

You may not even notice it.

Turn the fan on continuous,
then go shopping for a few hours,
and then when you come home,
you get one chance to get that first whiff.

If you think you smelled something,
then you did.

Did you pass the smell test?

Good point earl

even when you smoke, you wont notice the smell after a little bit, but someone can come over a few hours later and smell it immediately after walking in the door.
