What's The Minimum Number of Plants per 1000 watts? I Want to Max Yeild per Plant.

Most of the threads on here seem to be centered around maximizing yield with the minimum number of lights/watts. In these cases, the number of plants is not so important.

However, I'm in a position to legally grow a certain number of plants. I can use as many of whatever kind of light I want. Space is no issue. Power usage is unlimited. The goal for me is to maximize the yield PER PLANT.

I'm probably going to go with 1000w hps bulbs. I've seen people recommend one plant per square foot as a good range. However, since I am limited in the number of plants - but unlimited in the number of lights - I want to put as few plants as possible under each light, so that I can maximize the yield from each plant.

Do you guys have any advice about this? Any other legal growers want to chip in and help this noob out?

I'm just getting my license now, and although I've done my fair share of research, I've still got ALOT to learn.

Minimum number of plants, well i guess that would be one..

A good grower could grow exactly the same from one plant under a 1kw that they could from 10 plants under a 1kw, it's way too broad a question.

For example does the strain you plan to work with like topping or does it grow best when LST'd?

I have seen massive yields using 1 - 1000 HPS per plant. I have seen ungodly yield using 9 - 1000 HPS for 4 plants.

Jesus. That's insane.

If everything goes as planned, the space that I am growing in has like 12 foot cielings. So I could easily grow monster sized plants.

I have no idea what strain. Whatever strain I determine will give me the best yeild per plant! I'm open to recommendations.
well you can't work out how many plants is going to be optimal until you know how you are going to grow the plants which in a way depends on what strains you intend to work with.

I always chuckle to myself when i see threads focusing on nothing but maximum yield. And just remmeber, unless your game is just to rip people off, yiled does not mean more money etc, a lower yielding GOOD strain will be just as valuble as a high yileiding commercian strain. I suggest you forget maximum yield and read up on what strains will give you the best balance of good weight to good bud. Only 16yr olds or hobo's (and they're just on crack instead :p) buy based on the size of the bag and not the quality of the contents

I am neither a hobo nor a 16-year-old. The yield is not the most important thing. However, since I have unlimited lights, hydro and space my only limitation is plants. Therefore, it makes sense to focus on a strategy that maximizes yield per plant. It would be stupid to chose a strain that tended to grow small and did best in tightly packed grows.

Additionally, I intend on making a substantial amount of the harvest into edibles, which is my preferred method of medicating - so in that case the intracacies of taste and smell are less important.

If you have any strain recommendations, let me know.

medi bud up to 1200gs perplant 1 under each light and do 50gallon dwc
50 Gallon pots?? That's huge.

Update: i just talked to my landlord today and he is willing to rent me a massive, 1500 square foot loft with super tall 15 foot cielings! Just imagine the monster sized plants I could grow in there. I could do some sativas and let em grow to the size of a big outdoor crop hahah with plants twice as tall as your average man haha.

I'm thinking of getting this setup tho ... it's only 13 gallon buckets - check it out.

The under current xl13:

Here's a dope video of the setup:

Honestly, it seems the buckets are little too close to permit the growing of real huge plants. Anyone have any other suggestions?
