*reason behind using R/O h20 for 'MYCOS' is simple, chlorine kills microbial life.So Im new to using mycos and it says use unclorinated water, If I leave the water sit out for a couple of days will that do the job or should I use RO water?
lol. i was close.. yes i meant chloridesi think you mean chlorides?? i understand it kills microbes, thats what its there for in the first place, leave it sit out and its fine RO is one step towards ultra pure WFI, adding anything to it or putting it in soil defeats the porpouse of RO completly
a bubbler will oxygenate it fine but it will also dissolve unwanted gasses into it, add H2O2 if you feel you need to kill microbes and oxygenate the water
So your using tap water I assume? So Im new to using mycos and it says use unclorinated water, If I leave the water sit out for a couple of days will that do the job or should I use RO water?
yes your on the right line anyway,RO (reverse osmosis) is a process where water moves through a semi-permiable membrane under pressure to an area of low solute concentration, lol. i was close.. yes i meant chlorides
R/O is just water ran thru filtered membranes to remove chlorine and other contaminants *metals* (tap water is nasty IMHO, and i wouldnt drink it straight up.. IMHO)
uummm "ultra pure WFI"?? ---not even close, R/O is not sterile nor does it have the filtered element to be used for 'in vitro' applications... R/O is just ultra clean tap water
in regards to soil, i use R/O all the time. WHY? because i dont want all that toxic crap they add in tap water building up in my mediums.
(its not pointless to use R/O with soil, but hey -- each to his own)
"a bubbler will dissolve unwated gasses into it.." --what gasses are you speaking of?
**wowzers!! arent you the mad green scientist ,yes your on the right line anyway,RO (reverse osmosis) is a process where water moves through a semi-permiable membrane under pressure to an area of low solute concentration,
WFI = water for injection, ok yes WFI is irrelavent, i was just using it to explain that WFI is ultra pure water and RO is a step to producing it.
the only thing RO wont remove is molecules smaller than water so yes it will be quite sterile if done correctly,
and FYI RO is used invitro, even deionised water is used invitro
yea RO is ultra clean tap water. how much does RO water cost anyway??
a brita filter will take out chlorine.
do you realise that by adding RO water to soil you are just replacing evrything the RO process took out to begin with???
as for the gasses....common sense should tell you that your not breathing pure O2, theres :methane, Carbondioxide, carbonmonoxide, sulpherdioxide, sulphermonoxide, a large content of nirtogen (dont worry bout that it wont dissolve in water), any smoke particles , dust (not a gas but its there), and evrything that is being burnt in out atmosphere.... shall I continue??
i take it you work in industry??but on a medical stand point, i wouldnt recommend it
sorry bout this ^^^^^^^^ I didn't realize at the time it came across so aggressiveRO water might be a little too pure, is that healthy for the plants???
whats the point in using RO anyway??
do you use hydro or soil??? either way it defeats the porpouse???
*nah, your adament about your stance, and we all respect each others inputs.. no harm donesorry bout this ^^^^^^^^ I didn't realize at the time it came across so aggressive
lol im sure my family feel the same when i go on a rant!!no.. worse.. my grandparents - parents - aunts/uncles - all various medical industries... And im stuck in the dinner table over hearing copious amounts of un-neccessary info LOL
the short answer is yes, letting it sit out is fineSo Im new to using mycos and it says use unclorinated water, If I leave the water sit out for a couple of days will that do the job or should I use RO water?
