doesn't excuse the fact that god took my friend. i'm sitting in the driveway, alone. seadoo hitched to the back of my truck. YEA god!! :(

how long does this usually take? :?
In a very strong conversion, it can take a couple of years. I have seen people that become extremely confused, they are looking for answers. They can become extremely vunerable at these times, and if the wrong person gets to them, well this is where you hear of the nightmares like Branch Dividian, Jonestown, etc... I would really like to go in depth on this, not preaching. I am back to my old self now, there is very few things that are wrong to do. Man has a way of labeling things wrong or right.

it doesn't "look like" he is blowing me off, he IS blowing me off. using god as his excuse. i'm wise enough that i've seen it all my life. in a year he'll be drunk and paying for whores again. laughing about "that time i went to church".
Once again is drinking and partying wrong, God wants you to have fun with life, don't be confused by mans interpetation of what God wants for us. I am not sure about the whores, but I would like to say it is okay, probably I should stay away from that one, my wife would not like it.

What annoys me most about religious people is that they are so damn sure of themselves. In reality the only thing they have to go on is what is told to them by other people, the bible was written by a human and the organizations and rules were established by humans. tx you wrote that religion is the #1 excuse for war. It is not an excuse, it is the direct cause and any denial of that is just ignorant. Remove it from the Israel Syria equation then find me another cause why thousands die and we have a ticking bomb on our hands. Yes many people find peace and understanding through religion, but many others find cause for violence. YOU CANNOT JUST WRITE OFF THE MILLIONS OF LIVES dating back to the crusades and every day up to the present. In the end it is a personal opinion whether or not you have caused more good than damage, but I can't look past it. If we developed a drug that made 95% of its users completely happy and at peace but the other 5% turned into psychopaths who killed anyone that didn't believe in their interpretation of the world do you think that drug would be acceptable in society?

Maybe you didn't do it, but your group did.

I don't believe we are all going to die in 2012. It will be funny to see all the religious believers of the 2012 apocolypse dig themselves out of another hole the day after. An apocolyptic scenario is not far fetched as we are always endanger of a huge meteor or natural disaster caused by something we don't understand yet. The reality is that one day this world will end. Will we be able to develop the technology capable of saving ourselves or not?

Look you believe what you believe and I believe what I Believe, get over it. If you think religion is the cause for war then cool, i disagree. If you want to blame all of these problems on Christianity then do so, its your right.

When it comes down to this little exchange i dont give a shit, i do not want to waste my energy on a redundant disagreement. If you feel the need to continue there are plenty of like minded and diametrically opposed people here.

Now for the real issue at hand...

Id honestly be more worried about about a earthquake going off the coast of the US and hitting us with a tsunami. Wonder if there would be any surfers riding the "last wave" before cali got engulfed.

No im just getting cranky, i closed last night at work (1am) then had to open/close the next day (8am/midnight). The suck in this equation is i ran out of pot and havent had the chance to re-up and my Neuropathy pain flared and i couldnt get any sleep. Im at 27 and 1/2 or so with no sleep. Im going home and metaphorically making love to my bed and purchasing a large sack when i awaken from my slumber. Cant wait...

it's either a new girl or one of his family members.

that's the whole thing that kills me about religion. it's not god who helps you, it's you who helps you. god is an excuse for those that are too weak to do it themselves. i've been thru it all. hit rock bottom. and not once did i ever need god to fix myself. i simply needed to mature and quit making excuses. i am responsible for my own actions. i don't do things wrong because i lack god in my life. and the good things that happen aren't due to "gods plan". it's because of my own choices that my life is the way it is.

i could have helped him more then god can. he just won't listen to me because i'm not god. we'd both tell him the same things.

First off your my favorite atheist. :) just wanted to get that out the way...

Every man needs to find his own way, doesnt matter how. Send the guy an email, let him know your concerned about whats going on and that despite conflicting world views that you value your friendship. Dont put it in such a sappy context as you may get frogged in the arm. Tell him to give you a call or come by.

If he wont then fuck it and move on man. Regardless of his creed he shouldnt turn his back on a bud.

IMO i would not blame the religion on this as your friend is making the choice.

Well im signing off, home then sleep. If you want an ear to listen or just a Christian to yell at you know where to find me. :peace:
