Kitty's Garden 2011

thai basil and bay laurel:
i got the basil as a start about half its size, it hasn't even made it into the ground yet and the damn thing's flowering.....

mystery sprout from a tray i'd given up on (i suspect/hope it might be an evening primrose):

***HOW DO THEY KNOW?!?!***

my kid is systematically targeting my favourites:
-snapped one after8 lily start when it was 2" tall
-would have taken the biggest calla blossom yesterday if i'd been a few more feet away
-keeps STEPPING ON the newly planted baby gardenia bush

and just now we got B.U.S.T.E.D. digging in mummy's prized jade plant (yes, ^that^ one; not to worry it's ok).

forget the bunnies, 2 yr olds are a *menace* to anything that can't run away.

i can't be the only one to whom this photo looks..... suggestive:

this is about the point where the lilies start teasing me (from what i can tell these are probably still a month or so away):

Very nice garden :-) I used to have a backyard that looks exactly like with a ginormouse oak tree and a hammock :-) twas a small piece of paradise.
So like the bad boy I am all I did was scroll through and look at all the pics lol but Im subbed and will find some time to read through the posts :-) Happy growing.

love the florabunda...and this is the first time i have EVER seen a double flowering mock orange. they're gorgeous.

thanks for stopping by, danny.... always good to have you for a visit.

*ssshh* it's a grandiflora.... correct me if i'm wrong, floribunda blooms in clusters? (i really want one. i know it's cliche, garden-wise, but i want a rose garden. i have a spot picked out for next year.)

that mock orange is called "virginal" .... i love it. i went to the nursery one day intending to buy nothing but herbs and veggie starts, and a bumblebee told me i HAD to bring it home with me.

i know you guys must be getting sick of the "love" rose but i am damn pleased with this picture:

..... ^^can you see her "bum"? (sooo cuuuuuute)^^

feeling a bit like "le petit prince".... tell me i'm being crazy if i start having conversations with it, please.

tragic news: one of the rosebuds has fallen prey to "he who systematically attacks mummy's favourites"..... *sigh*.... trying to revive her in a bowl of water.

really good light yesterday:

the big tease (aka asiatic lily 'mango'):

it's an asiatic lily (which is different from "oriental lily", which is bigger and more fragrant), the strain is "mango". kinda looks like a mango doesn't it, with the splotchiness? i was expecting the heart to have more of a red colour to it, but i'm kinda liking the 'black' heart too!

lol yer when i first saw it i thought it was squash :? hehe , they got some real intense color, do they need to be moist all the time like the orchids ?

ok, so i was reviewing my list on the first page and other than complete non-germination of the
arnica,
milk thistle,
motherwort,
pumpkin,
stevia,
campanula,
winter white squash,
and white poppies
(see what i meant about my medicinal herbs not coming up? i'm MAD. got them all at the same seed place. this is not a coincidence.)

the rabbits having gotten my peas,

and the broccoli = west coast hybrid blend instead of raab
beans = long green, jade and burgundy bush instead of long zi, white runners and soy
lavendar = purple twickel instead of munstead

it's pretty much all there. plus everything you see on the deck which i totally forgot to mention.

BTW since you seem to have some experience >< (sorry for thread high jack) i have some squash seeds germinating and ive never grown the plant and ive been tring to read about it and i come across some people saying its better to have a small amount if its not commercial cuz of how fast they produce fruit and how fast it rots. how many fruits do you get from a single plant,, say in a week ?
