Yea, clone would be done before the Super Cali Haze and its a gauranteed female. But i do realize that its not exactly easy to get your hands on a clone for all of us on here. And if you have space problems the Photoperiod is not exactly ideal, unless you want to lst your ass off.

Hey man, you should give it a shot with some soil a little more gentle this time. FFOF tends to cause a bit more of a male ratio for me. But im still tuned in for the ride myself. Get ready for a loooong wait with that SCH..lol! It takes like 3-4.5 months to be finished, thats the only thing that detered me. Can almost grow a regular photo in that time frame.
I took your advice on the Jiffy Starter's and have a 6 pack on the way. Going to pop the Ryder's into those before I toss them into the FFOF. Now I know the main root shoots out like a shot as far down as it can go and from the looks of it the Jiffy Starter's are not very big. So are you setting the Jiffy's in normal soil and them transferring that over to FFOF? Or just setting the Jiffy's in the FFOF after they pop?

Oh, so you got the Jiffy Pellets? I was actually talking about the Jiffy Seed Starting Mix, which is actually like a type of soil. There are other brands as well, but just something without nutes already in there. I usually just start them off in this light mix in like a 16 ounce cup and then transfer them over to the FFOF before the roots hit the bottom of the cup, to stop the transplant shock.
But I have done them with the jiffy pellets as well before. I just soak the pellet, let it swell up, then put the seed in there. I like to soak my seeds overnight first tho and alot of the times the root is already starting to come out, but not all the time.

But yea i would just plant the puck into the FFoF im thinkin this one is gonna be a gal.

16oz party cups red and white NOT clear! Fox Farm Happy Frog then transplant into FFOF. Start your seed in a wet/moist paper towel and ziplock breath into the bag until full and seal and stick in a dark place 65 degrees is almost perfect wait till they have or almost have shed there shells then poke your finger in the top soil your pinky finger down to the first joint the one just past your finger nail. Get a tooth pick and make a channel for the tap root then place seed with tap root going done the channel cover lightly and you good to go just dont let the top soil dry out till it pops and then keep it moist till you have like the 2nd or 3rg set of leaves then you can start to let the soil dry in between waterings. Theres no need for expensive shit man i picked up a gaint bag of FFOF and FFHP for like under 25 then party cups at safeway for 2 plastic bag i had along with paper towel..... SIMPLE just dont over water you figure it out and i'll help you step by step but i think i cleared it up a little for you. Also get a water filter like a berita and filter your water im lucky and have nice ph neutral water always comes out at 6.0 but i still filter and let sit in a giant bowl or something open so bad shit can evaporate out. I use a little tweezers with rubber on the tips for my seed planting just dont want to squash them so be extra extra careful. If you can get your hands on some bag seed you should and do a couple runs with them until you master popping them but this way is super super easy and ALWAYS works.

Good to know, thanks. Yeah I've never heard of the Jiffy line before so when I put it in google the starter kit was the first thing that popped up. But as long as it works, that's all that matters.

Thanks for the detail. Not to come off as counter-productive or dickish but I think just popping the seed in soaked dirt is all you need. 3-5 days or less and they pop up with no problems as long as you pay attention to what you're doing. That and I've grown quite a few gardens, and never had to do more than just soak the ground and then plant. Sometimes you had to soak the seeds if they were a few years old, but that was it. But I've never used a seed starter kit so I wasn't exactly sure if you just planted it straight into the FFOF soil or had to go to nute-less soil and then FFOF.

Using the Jiffy Start Kit with the pods? Yeah thanks for the PM, as I mentioned there, I should be starting here tomorrow or Wednesday.

Yep, using those little pod things that swell up when you wet them. And im guessing yours will come with a plastic dome type thing to put them in to keep the moisture up. Some things are better said in private.
Im still ready for it... got my seat reserved for your next show.

Yeah mine came in flattened dome package with 6 pods in them. I'm guessing after they get wet, they will swell up twice as big and be big enough for them germinate for at least a day or two.

Round 3 starts tonight, with the Ryders in the Jiffy pods. Now comes the waiting for 2-3 days when they pop out.

Have the purple ryder beans popped yet? I am a newb to RIU but I have been reading a massive amount of grow journals to get ready for my first grow. I intend to cross a Easy Ryder fem with a Purple Ryder male to get seed. Haven't seen any completed purple ryder grows. Best of luck to you.

Small update, photos for round 3 should start coming in tomorrow. Seems things go a bit slower with these Jiffy pods, and I have one seed that still hasn't popped at all yet, and wondering if it's either a dud or just taking longer to crack. Not sure what to do about that yet. But, since one has popped, round 3 will go on.

Hmm... that sux its going slow for you. Usually it goes a bit faster for me in them.

But yep, ready for 3rd round.

Yeah, not sure why it took an extra day. And I'm hoping that the other cracks tomorrow or the next day. If not I guess I'll have to try the soaking in the water or in a soaked warm paper towel gig.

Anyways, round 3 has started.

Everything is going well with the new sprout. And even better, after replanting the non-popped seed 3 days ago, it seems to have finally popped. Another day or 2 and we'll have Ryder #2 going .
