i have seen some massively rootbound plants that have done fine. you just have to feed them. listen to your plant, she will tell you what she needs.

Me too but some times you have to pull her pants down and look at her roots.... that is the only way to see exactly what is going on. Color, root bound, root can get heat stressed also. take a peek will answer a lot of questions.
Hey guys, good news! The plants are looking much better today after being fed some veg nutes last night, think they were in need of some N!
Though I definitely am going to try and airate my soil a bit before the next feeding. Any suggestions as to what the best tool for this would be to avoid damaging roots in the process? Thanks!

a wood dowel about 2-3 feet long will work perfect. just sharpen the tip to a point so it will slide right past to roots without damaging them. if you take your time and spin the dowel as you go down you can get it down to the bottom of the bucket pretty easily. just dont force it if you feel it hitting a root. just wiggle and spin it till you get past whatever is blocking you.

actually you are supposed to cut the n just to get it to trigger faster and start flowering vigorously. then you are supposed to reintroduce the n about 2 weeks later.
