Future techniques and lighting advice questions

Hi guys,

I would have posted this in the newbie forum but some of the questions people ask on there are ridiculous. I may be on my first grow but I'm not an idiot.

I'm currently into week 4 of flower, I have 4 girls in coco (1xLivers, 3xPsychosis), in a space that is approx 32 inches by 32 inches, underneath a 600w hid, and I've just been letting them do their thing and watching what happens.

First, I'd like some advice on the best technique to use to maximise my yield in this space for future grows. Height isn't a issue but right now they look pretty crowded. I'm guessing topping probably isnt the best idea since that encourages them to get bushier, but on the other hand the top canopy is so thick I worry how much light is actually getting through to the lower leaves/buds.

Secondly, what do people think would be the best form of additional lighting to use? Possibly fluorescents vertically in the corners to increase light penetration?

Thanks in advance.
tubes or cfls are good for side lighting

Cheers mate. Sorry I didnt make it clear, the advice on techniques is for future grows, I'm just letting them do their thing right now while I learn and going to trim some of the undergrowth later.

yup, i'd say 2 trees is about all you're going to fit in there, if you want to maximise your vertical space (for instance, there is no way you're fitting 4 plants vegged a month in there without some MAJOR lollipop action).

another thing you could do if you're uncomfortable only having 2 plants is to veg 2 plants for longer and have 2 tall and 2 short -- get a layered canopy thing going.

Hmm some interesting ideas, the layered canopy could really work with a bit extra lighting lower down, Thanks for the input, decisions decisions haha! :)

I'm thinking of growing some super silver haze in the future, but right now I need the 8-9 week finishing time of the indicas.

I'm in coco right now and just learning how to do everything really so I dont think I'm ready to jump to hydro quite yet haha, but one day I'll be sure to try it.
you are ready, i was a bit confused at first but NFT is so easy, for the first week just keep the water pump running 15 mins on 30 off then after a week when the roots have developed you can run it 24/7....can a ph meter and a ppm meter and your all set
